When you walk in to Anne&Max you immediately feel like you’re at your childhood best friends parents house. That cozy welcoming feeling from people you don’t know really well but already kinda like. The friendly faces make you want to stay a little longer. The cute girl behind the counter even reminds you of the ‘American Beauty’ crush you might had on your best friends sister. The menu is full of silly dad jokes to make you even more comfortable. I ordered a sandwich, a shake and a espresso and they are all fair priced and taste well. The club sandwich is one of those, I hope it will fit in my mouth situations (no pun intended). Their sourdough is clearly freshly baked and the shake tasted better than I make them at home. It’s rare to find a place where you eat and drink the things you could make yourself but are still surprised by how well it’s prepared and served. The espresso was rich and slightly bitter exactly how you want them to be. Served with a full glass of tap water next to it. I don’t know if it is the B&B that is located above, the staff or the nice bouquet of flowers but Anne and Max have something that I have missed in Utrecht for...
Read moreWe four of us visited the place for some coffee and cakes.
No matter how cozy and nice vibe this place has but the coffees are okay and cakes were little disappointing to me.
I had ordered 'DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CAKE' which was fine but too crumbly as per my liking along with Cappuccino - which was nice.
One friend had ordered FOREST FRUIT ALMOND CAKE: which was topped with Blueberries apparently (not sure if that's what forest fruits are) and also the berries had really weird texture while biting) and pricewise, the portion was too small.
Another friend had ordered Tiramisu, which I think was a disaster because when we scooped one spoon and you could literally see the liquidly puddle at the bottom of the jar and after two spoons of it, rather having a nice firm texture, it became a smoothie.
And the another order was 'ICED TIRAMISU LATTE' - which was okayish as per the friend.
P.S: I would normally click pictures to post, to validate the review but this one time I couldn't click any as we were exhausted finding a place to eat on Sunday (either sitting or closing time was...
Read moreDuring my stay at the nearby Cosy Pillow boutique hotel, they arranged breakfast at Anne & Max's, which turned out to be an extraordinary culinary experience.
The freshly cooked breakfast featured an array of delectable items, including freshly baked bread, a delightful piece of cake, a buttery croissant, flavorful jam, a delicious sandwich with ham and cheese, freshly prepared yogurt, a refreshing orange juice, and a cup of exquisite coffee.
The impeccable service provided by the waitress, who greeted me with a warm smile, added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Anne & Max's breakfast undoubtedly stands out as one of the best I've ever had during my hotel stays.
I wholeheartedly recommend this delightful breakfast experience to anyone staying in the area. It's a must-try that adds a touch of excellence...
