Had dinner here with three people on a Wednesday evening. Charming place at a great location (downstairs on the Oude Gracht, one of the best places in Utrecht) with quick and friendly service. Classical Balkan-style food (meaning loads of meat dishes), at a very reasonable price. The quality of the food was proportionate to the price, reasonable, not fantastic. Personally I ordered the goulash soup and "mixed grill" and had some friendly red wine. The soup was nicely spiced, definitely did not feel like it came from a tin or box full of powder. The meat platter was okay, but not great (again, proportionate to the price). There was goat, beef and pork, albeit in quite small chunks. The goat was quite nice, though the meat-to-bone ration was a bit disappointing (I got maybe 4 or 5 decent bites), the pork was quite acceptable, but the beef was a bit dry and overcooked. The dish was served with some kind of sauce in a little pan, fries (my compliments for those!) and...
Read moreIt was my fault that I didn't check reviews before going to this place. This was by far the worst "so called Balkan" food I had in my life. Please don't mistake this for Croatian, Serbian or Bosnian place bacause it has nothing to do with those countries. Staff makes you feel like they will spit in your food at any time, dirty terrace, terribly slow service and horrible food. Food combinations I have never seen in my life, "Boro Meze" starter that has 1 slice of salami 1 slice of "so called kulen", sweet and sour sauce, crab parts with old mayo....I mean just speachless, half of tea spoon of Ajvar and so on. For mains I took Čevapčići and got 3 pieces of them with sweet and sour cabbage and rice, dry meat and questionable freshness, for mix meat I will not even comment or the price that is through the roof comparing what you get. I highly DO NOT recommend...
Read moreThe location is nice and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I never tried balkan food before, so I didn't know what to expect. As we arrived the waitress brought some bread with spice on the side, which was nice. We tried the Boro meze, a mix of different starters, we didn't like much the pateu de ficat, but the rest was fine. We also got the Kaukasische Sjaslik (meats on skewer), the flavour was fine but it was a bit scarce in quantity (not worth considering it was 21,50€). Finally, the tarja (sweet marinated spareribs ) were very good. Also, the red wine of the house comes in a good quality for a good price. All the corona measures and distancing...
