Djakarta — Restaurant in Utrecht

Clearly in the twilight of its existence. The food was simply not good. Everything had been prepared either earlier that day, or earlier in the week... I knew we were in trouble when the place was near empty on a Thursday night at 20:00, not to mention the food came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered it. It can't be freshly prepared if comes out that fast. Just not possible. String beans were so soft you could mash them with your fork. The sweet and sour cucumbers were limp, as if readymade from a package. The meat was either stringy or rubbery, as if they had been sitting all day, or since yesterday. The sauces were clearly from jars. The flavors were not bad, but the food is just not worth it. Not when you have the likes of Blauwe available. The service was also poor, considering the few diners that were there. I have no idea how they have the rating that they do when the food is that low quality. Lower standards suppose. 1.) Djakarta has perfect location with nice ambience and outside tables not facing the busy road 2.) Food portions are very generous and the dishes stand out with impressive variability 3.)
