We have been guest of Taj Mahal since 2008 and liked service earlier very much. Since last months there is chaos in service. I just tried to order a dinner. Unfortunately gentleman on the other side, first was not ready to deliver at our address, he asks us to wait. While waiting on the phone we hear him on the other phone telling to other client that he is delivering to our area. Then we try to finish our order and he gets other call and asks us wait again. We wait again. Then he takes another order while we are waiting and hearing all he talks. Meanwhile he is yelling to someone in the kitchen. He comes back, we confused of whole situation, try to repeat what were we trying to order. This time he gets frustrated and yells at us that we are not fast enough and he has much to do, forgetting that we have been waiting for him already for a long time. Very much disappointed we stopped the order. This is not first time. Last time food was delivered to late too and we did not get all of our order. We probably will search for another option as it is not acceptable. Pity that...

That is 1h and 20 min of waiting - very long for food delivery standards! Whole order cost was 43.00 EUR which is not small amount for two people dinner (two mains and two starters). One of mentioned starters were samosas, and while not completely bad there were not good either. Wrapped in filo pastry (which not an original way - just a kitchen shortcut!) they were very soggy after spending long time in a plastic bag. Re-heating in the oven did not help much…
On the positive side: my chicken tikka and lamb korma (after re-heating) and garlic naan (after toasting) were outstanding and we enjoyed very much!
I wish there would be and option of replacing big complimentary portion of rice with naan.
Summary: we will go there in person gladly but we won’t be ordering...
Read moreMy favourite Indian restaurant in the last 10 years - in the Netherlands and elsewhere. Great staff, great atmosphere and, of course, great food. I tend to eat about the same all the time, namely the divines chicken shashlik AND lamb Madras (two main dishes), or, in place of the latter, the gambas Madras or the methi ghost (currently not on the menu but the chef will prepare it for you upon request), but there are many other delicious dishes and starters on the menu, such as Elaichi curries, Hyderabad curries, kebab mixed grills… Those who like their dishes extra hot (I do!) can ask the chef to add some extra spice to their dishes - they will not be disappointed! Finally, there is a large variety of good wines, beers (among which is my favourite Pils) and cocktails. At perfectly affordable prices, this is a restaurant run by genuine people (for several decades already) for genuine food lovers, a jewel at the heart of...
