Decent selection of classic good Belgian beers. Some waiters were really friendly and professionals, others I think they were looking for shortcuts, but overall nice experience nothing too bad.
I loved the place inside, drinking a beer there was really good. I loved that each beer had his own correct paired glass. One of the nice waiter also stated that they didn't have any Guinness anymore, so suggested to have another stout; then corrected himself saying that they didn't have any glasses for it, so this is definitely a positive point for their honesty and professionalism. Food wise I think they can improve, my salad was everything but a salad.
Overall would be a 4/5, but I didn't like the approach towards some people. Place inside was almost empty, we were there for lunch, most tables were reserved for the evening. Those entering were first suggested to sit outside or in a not reserved table, even if more than 6 hours were between current time and the one marked on the table. I also saw one poor guy that just wanted to see the tap beers at the counter, friendly being sent back outside with the reason that tap beers were marked on the menu. He just wanted to have a look 😅 Then when a tourist group came in with their guide, they could just roam around taking pictures and videos while talking, like it's not a restaurant. It's fine and understandable, the place is very beautiful and probably with rich history, but it was funny to see...
Read moreFriends brought me here on a fine Sunday afternoon. This bar is from a converted church and it's cool to see some of the stuff still hanging around. Anyways we got the Bierproeverij or the beer tasting which came with 6 beers. The first beer we got was a Adriaan Witbier from Jopen. It was really nice and had a lighter flavor. Next we got more of a weizen, it was nice too because all the beers were explained as well as the back story of some of the beers. The server did an amazing job. Next we got Maneblusser Mechels Stadsbier, this was nice as well, enjoyable. After that we got the Duchesse De Bourgogne which tasted like balsamic vinegar but its not horrible. Would be nice to eat this with fries and fish. Then we got Gaia IPA which wasn't as hoppy so that was enjoyable. It came with some snacks: Cheesesticks, bitterballen, fried shrimp, loempia. Food was nice with the beers. Second to last was Chimay Peres Trappistes which was a tripel. Lastly was the Trappistes Rochefort 10 which was a quadruple. After we ordered a Kwak and a small Heinekin beertje. Great beer tasting, nice stories...

Alcohol free wine was spoiled. Replaced by something else without argument
Mussels, sold out, soup of the day, sold out. Etc. 8pm on a weekday...
Shrimp croquettes were crispy but very short on shrimp. And what's with the slice of rock hard bread served with it? Shrimp croquettes is something they teach in the first week in any Belgian cooking school. They are not hard. They should not be this bland
Mains... Cod was undercooked to the point of being inedible. Sateh was overcooked, underseasoned except for lots of garlic. Peanut sauce is from a packet and is mainly sweet and soy sauce. Clings in your mouth, tastes cheap! Fries were like English chips, cooked once instead of twice. Not crispy
Staff didn't seem to give a shit. I didn't feel like making a scene so just paid and left
Not doing this again. Do yourself a favour, have a beer here and find someplace else to eat. There's a Febo a few doors down. They have better fries...
