My rate: 2.5/5. Not the best ramen I have tried. It was like a Chinese restaurant than Japanese. Randomly visited in a rainy day for lunch. I ordered yakitori, cha siu ramen and peking duck ramen. *Food: yakitori was bigger than i expected. However, the chicken wasn't well marinated. It was quite bland. But the sauce came together was fine. Both ramen bowls were with spicy tonkotsu. It was slightly spicy and not too oily, I liked that. But the broth somehow was kind of watery and didn't feel like a well cooked pork broth. Cha siu was fine, however peking duck was lack of flavour and the skin was not crispy but soft. The toppings were very disappointed. As they used the same toppings for the both ramens. They were corn, kombu strips, half boiled egg and spring onions. The combination was lame. This doesn't look or taste like ramen but more like Chinese noodle soup. *Service: it was quiet so the food came fast. Staff were friendly and nice. The restaurant was small but tidy. I was so excited to try another ramen restaurant in Utrecht but it didn't meet my expectation. I haven't tried their tepans yet so maybe i will come back...
Read moreIts centrally located surrounded by the canals and beautiful old buildings. There are a few outdoor tables available. The service is a little rude. When asked for a recommendation the reply I basically got was "how should I know what you like?". You might say thats the typical Dutch directness but I've been to hundreds of restaurants in the Netherlands and I've never received that reply. Other than that, the service was fairly quick. Their drink was surprisingly good. We got their lemon tea and it was so good we had to order it again. We got their Shoyu Ramen and their veggie Tepan. I would definitely recommend both. It was very tasty. Their ramen was rich with a lot of toppings and their noodles were also pretty good. It has a chew to it. The Tepan has a nice little presentation. They put the sauce at the table on a hot plate and it creates a good "show" A friend ordered the chicken skewers and the review there was that it was good as well.
Overall a good choice. If you're around this place and you're craving ramen, this might...
Read moreThis is the second time I visited ICI Ramen and I was very happy about my experience again. Often times when I eat ramen at other restaurants, it's hard for me to finish it because the broth is way too salty. But at ICI Ramen the broth was perfect! I enjoyed every bite until the bowl was empty. The portion size was just right too and the egg shape is super cute. I had the Tonkotsu broth with a little spice and some porkbelly. The porkbelly was nicely grilled and the skin was crunchy. The pork taste wasn't dominant, it was perfectly balanced. The last time I went there I had Ramen with Karaage. I loved that they put the karaage in a seperate bowl so it doesn't get soggy from the broth. We ate there around 4pm and it was empty, so our order arrived quickly. Can highly recommend the...
