Like all tourists, we had to get to Maho beach to check out the planes landing at Princess Juliette airport. The best place to view the planes is Sunset Bar and Grill. Situated right on the edge of the beach and airport, you are afforded a great view of the planes coming in. We went on a Monday, and when we arrived (early) there were only a few others there. One of the servers told us that they just started opening up on Mondays, so word hadn’t gotten out yet. We were able to get a seat right at the rail. I started off with a Painkiller...I’ve been reading some summer romance books that take place in the Caribbean and they always talk about drinking Painkillers so I had to try one. I was not disappointed...it was delicious! I decided I wanted to get one of their tall frozen drinks in a commemorative cup. We were told they had a BOGO on them so what the heck...why not! Normally $14, it was worth getting two for that price, and $9 refills. As we were given our two drinks, another server came by and asked us if we would be willing to let them take our picture for social media...and they would give us TWO more frozen drinks for FREE! Hey, even better...FOUR drinks for the price of one! The girls had the Drop Your Top, and the guys tried the Liquid Viagra. Next time, I think I’ll have the Liquid Viagra. Both were delicious, but the DYT was more sweet/fruity, and the LV was fruity and tangy.
I had an order of their wings there, and they were good...plain wings with buffalo sauce on the side. They were pretty good. Of the three wing plates I had, I’d say these were the best.
Of course, I was able to get out and catch some great images of the...
Read moreLet me start off by saying the primary beach and the Sunset Bar and Grill are adjacent to one another. The restaurant gives you a 270 degree panoramic view of both the airport, the beach and the ocean. This is a by far one of the Islands most well known areas. The beach overall is truly remarkable. The beach is beautiful, it's also not as congested as I first anticipated it to be. You will find yourself surrounded by friendly tourist from all over the world, engaging in conversations with people from all walks of life. But what truly makes it spectacular, is laying on the beach, having a Boeing 737 fly over your head at approximately 145 knots and only about 75ft above your head! This is a must see attraction for all ages, especially if you have young ones who love airplanes. Everyone will leave with a memory that will never be forgotten! ...... As for the Bar Area and Food service at this location, honestly it could have been better. Drinks were extremely strong, which can be good or bad. Food was good but not 5 star. Overall, why I gave this place a 4-star review is the airport and the beach being so close to each other! If it wasn't for that I would have honestly given the Sunset Bar and Grill a 3-star review. Yes I would recommend absolutely coming here to experience this! I truly think the restaurant and bar could have been better for the amount of people who come to the area. Lastly, this is a great place to relax, hang out on the beach, and enjoy the view! The taxi service is right on the steps of the Sunset Bar, as you walk out you and head to your next destination on the island. I hope everyone has a...
Read moreSo let me start with how my first impression went . Was highly disappointed with food and service. Went around 530. Not packed at all. Sat at table and about 3 couples were greeted before us and they came 15 min after we did. They even got their food before they even asked me and my gf what we wanted to drink. Saw people getting burgers and sandwiches and even the Lobster before we got a drink....
After 20 min, we got to Order the BbQ combos. The presentation was great if you look at the photos.......
Another 15 minutes went by and we got the food. Chicken was dry, cold with temperture hot bbq sauce on it and ribs were tough and cold. Like it had been sitting all day. Rice and peas were extremely dry and bland. Was a hassle to get served even though it was not crowded.
For it to be the highly regarded food it claimed it was not worth the price. There was no compensation for lackluster food or apology. Didn't even get to mention it to server bc server was too busy chatting with bartenders and other patrons. Only time they came back was when I had to flag them down for the check.
The Johnny cake was the only thing fresh we got. After an 8 hour flight and being recommended toneat here i was let down. I just paid and left and never went back for my week stay in Saint marteen.
Now if u want to go party and drink then this is the place to go. Maybe this was a one off situation but first impressions mean alot. In all food wise was subpar . Do better with your customers and treat them...
