So glad I discovered my new fav workplace burger eatery. Visited Jax last week, recommended by some colleagues. The lunch time rush was a good sign for starters :). Opted for their famed cheeseburger and so glad they didn't disappoint. I'm not a big beef fan and whenever I do, it's always in a burger. Their corn dusted buns were a nice and soft, aoili was surely a big hit with me coz it added extra flavor to an already well seasoned patty. It was well done and yet moist & well seasoned, something I usually prefer in red meat. Loved the blanket of cheese as well...plus their fresh salad really amps up the texture. Given my average appetite, the burger was more than filling. And for a burger to retain it's form despite being a takeaway and consumed a good 30 mins after it was prepared, can only imagine how much more awesome it'd be when consumed riteaway. Two thumbs up and can easily count Jax among my top 5 fav burger places. The person at the counter was really friendly. Surely going back for more. Cheers.
Edit 1: I was back in office today after forever it seemed and I had to celebrate with a Jax 😁. Opted for the chicken burger - panko crumbs make everything better. So glad Jax offers a proper patty instead of some others who serve tenders inside a bun (???). The panko crumb fried patty is crispy on the outside and juicy inside...and it stayed crisp all through and there's 2 of those in the burger. Just the right amount of sauce (aioli + bbq) to keep it moist; perfect amount of salad to add to the texture and doesn't disassemble. Everything about the burger was spot on. I wish Jax starts offering a spicy chicken option as well 🤞🏼. I'd also ordered the salted caramel shake - it's legit salted caramel and thick. On the sweeter side - just a heads-up. Both my orders so far have been a 10 on...
Read moreThis is a great place for burger if you have nothing to do all day and happy for long wait time. Ordered online at 11:50am, was told pickup time is 12:20pm. Arrived at 12:20, waited till 12:50 for a single burger and chips. After a few times of visits all with similar waiting time, I won't be coming back ever again. My past 20+ burger fuel online orders was always ready for pickup time.
edit: my apologies, although I couldn't recollect the exact time I arrived the store. But I recall shortly after I arrived the store, I sent a txt msg to my wife (about something completely irrelevant to the event) but the timestamp of that txt is 12:41pm, so I would arrive the store after 12:30, not 12:20. But I'm pretty sure I left the store sometime around 12:45 - 12:50, because by the time I get home, it's 12:55 I just barely made it to my 1pm meeting (Jax burger is 6min driving distance away from my house). I ordered the burger at 11:50am, hoping I can finish my lunch before my 1pm meeting. But because because of the huge delay, I didn't get to eat my lunch before meeting. And need to eat my burger and chips cold after my meeting. It's unfortunate the store owner didn't seen to mind a order placed at 11:50am, with ETA of 12:20pm, was delivered around 12:45-50pm
edit 2: by the way, just checked other bad reviews of this burger joint. They are mostly about long waiting time. So it's clear I'm no the only one complain about long wait time. And the store owner's reply is surprisingly rude - 'we are make gourmet burger , not fast food. If you want fast food,...
Read moreHave been here a couple of times since they first opened but it's been awhile since I've came back. Noticed a few not so great reviews so decided to order and see for myself.
We got the Spicy Chicken Burger, fries and chicken nuggets. Firstly, the burger, while definitely a step below the Pablo and Crossbreed, was still a very serviceable burger. I've definitely had better chicken burgers elsewhere, but for what it is, it was good.
The problem was with the fries and nuggets which were way too salty. It wasn't even just the batter that was salty, so was the actual chicken itself, not just the marinade. This really dragged the meal down for us especially given the sides weren't cheap.
When we went to pick up the order, we overheard the phone ringing and a staff member asking "what do I do, how do I pick up the phone?" I suspect that with the expansion into West Auckland it's been tough to juggle 2 teams in both branches, but would really recommend looking into ensuring the staff are all onboard to prevent these little inconsistencies (and appears to be a theme for the negative reviews).
I want Jax Burger to do well, but there definitely needs some work done in order for it to be a well-regarded premium burger joint. While Jax's prices are high (and not just high in comparison to fast food, high in comparison to other burger places), people won't mind if it satisfies. Unfortunately in this case I don't think it's met the mark. All the best and hope the next visit...
