Some people might say that Im not a true Aucklander as the first time I visited Burger Fuel was June 2013. Despite the fact that I have been living abroad for the last 6 years, Burger Fuel had never been on my radar when visiting back home and on this cold miserable winters night I was reluctantly dragged into the Dominion road branch by my sister, who is a HUGE burger fuel fan.
Despite the atrocious weather and later in the evening time frame when we descended on BF, there was a small number of people inside the restaurant/ takeout bar where everywhere on the strip seemed to be a ghost town. Great sign me thinks.
I stood in front of the walled menu for a good 5 minutes trying to decide what I wanted. The menu sounded tasty enough that I was struggling to make a decision. I finally whimped out and went for the bambino ( smallest burger on the list), knowing my inability to finish what I was told was a generous normal sized burger.
They weren't wrong, the bambina was a normal sized burger and the burger my sister got "The peanut piston" would have done me right for lunch and dinner. We ordered their famous kumara fries with aioli and settled in with a couple of waters in funky purple plasticware.
The burger was really good and satisfying and well worth the $7 price tag attached to it. All up our meal came to under $25 which is not bad for 2 people. I was so impressed by the value for burger that I rushed out to the bottle shop to finish our evening with a bottle of champagne...
Read moreI didn't want to give this one star for the reason that the burger's usually taste great and the customer service is usually fine. However a couple of weeks ago I got two large size Combustion Tofu's and asked for them both to have vegan aioli, which I said I was happy to pay the extra $$ for. Upon getting home and failing to taste the aioli, I lifted up the bun and saw this depressingly small serving of aioli which I paid extra for (I should also say on a positive note that the vegan aoili is insanely good, so props for that). Not being one to usually make complaints I took a photo in the heat of the moment but then just forgot about it. Two weeks later we went again and I remembered I had the photo so figured I would politely show them in the hopes that they may offer that I don't pay for the extra aioli this time. Instead I was met with two blank faces as if to say "well what do you want me to do about it?". She said she would pass this on to the kitchen without so much as an apology, I shrugged my shoulders, took my burgers home, and should say in all fairness that they where amazing. Customer service and quality control could do with some improvement though. P.s It won't let me attach a photo for some reason so you will just have to imagine a 1/10 aioli...
Read moreBurgerFuel is hands down one of my go-to burger joints here in Auckland, and for good reason! I'm a regular, and their CN Cheese Burger is consistently outstanding – seriously, it's a flavour bomb every single time. The patty is always perfectly cooked, juicy and packed with that delicious beefy taste, complemented by the melted cheese and fresh ingredients that make every bite incredibly satisfying. And let's not forget the fries – they're just as impressive. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned perfectly, they're the ideal accompaniment to their amazing burgers. Whether I'm grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a proper meal, BurgerFuel never disappoints. It’s the kind of place where you know you’re going to get a quality feed that hits all the right spots. If you haven't tried their CN Cheese Burger with a side of those fantastic fries, you're...
