What a lovely morning! 🌞 I absolutely adore wisteria. Every time I drive on SH16/North Western motorway on the Westbound side, I see the most amazing wisteria on the roadside, and decided that today I'm going to find a way to take some photos (which does not involve my stopping on the m/way) πŸš— Nixon Park has a walkway called Athol Morris Walkway. It leads you through a great little park with a playground for smaller kids, and an obstacle course for bigger children, as well as a basketball court, and skateboard park. On Bond Street there is not much parking, and it's roadside. If you go to the other side of the park on the cnr of Central Road and Fourth Ave, there is more street parking, as well as the Nixon Park carpark with about 30 spaces, so convenient! There were lots of plants, trees, and other pretty flowers. I almost stole someone's very friendly cat 🐾 When you cross the sports field it borders the Kingsland cycleway, which runs parallel with the m/way, through St Lukes, Grey Lynn, and all the way to West Auckland (at the Nixon Park carpark on Fourth Ave). It is here where you will first find the sweet and heady smell, before you see an awesome carpet of purple wisteria!

Nixon Park is a large park having great facilities e.g. flood lights etc. for Rugby and other games. The access is via Central Road and Bond Street on the other end. We parked on Central Road while visiting this park. There is a kids skate park along with a full sized basket ball court. There is a small kids playground installed on site too. This makes the area equally popular with families. We visited it on a weekend and the day was bright and sunny. Kids had a great time in the playground and spent a lot of time having fun there. Athol Morris walkway goes through this park. Overall highly recommended.

Nixon Park is a great community space with a mix of recreational facilities. It features a playground, a basketball half-court, a skate park, and open grassy areas, making it ideal for families, sports enthusiasts, and dog walkers. The park is well-maintained and offers a peaceful atmosphere, though parking can be limited on busy days. With its convenient location and variety of activities, Nixon Park is a fantastic spot for outdoor fun and relaxation. Even it has kids playground and...
