Firstly, I have been to Yokoso Sushi many times in person. DO NOT order from Uber Eats.
Ordered the "Deluxe Bento" and it was anything but.
The portion size of the bento box itself is completely a size smaller than advertised.
The tempura consisted of one small fried gyoza, one small fried spring roll, a slice of tempura carrot, and two panko fried ebi. Sorry excuse for tempura.
The rice and chicken katsu was half the portion as advertised in the photo of the menu item in Uber Eats. Two pieces of sushi was placed in the other half to make it look like a larger portion that it actually was. One of the sushi pieces was so thin it could not stand on its own and was barely wider than a thin slice of orange (not even a wedge). The other piece was a side piece. One of the nigiri was just katsu and the other was a thin slice of some seafood, couldn't even tell what it was.
The third photo with the black bars on the sides is what was advertised. Compare that to what I got. Look at the difference. I didn't even bother taking a photo of the tempura because there was a single piece - the carrot.
The salad was just cabbage, some edamame and noodle carrots.
The only thing accurate in the whole bento was the four slices of salmon and an extra soy sauce. And they didn't even give me my miso soup!
Charging $30 ($35 on UE) for this is a complete rip off. I appreciate the state of the economy isn't good, but what I got was a complete misrepresentation. Never going back again and never ordering Yokoso Sushi from Uber Eats again.
Edit: Regarding the response from the business about the bento box size, their own photo shows a bigger bento box (that they use in restaurant) than the one they used for takeaway, meaning the takeaway SERVING is smaller! The size of the box...
Read moreBest Sushi in Auckland so you get 5 stars. BUT... The Chicken Katsu Don I got today was super disappointing. This is the second time I've received a Don in a styrofoam container. Last time I checked, Don meant bowl in Japanese. Not only does this really cheapen the experience, but some people would say this is not ideal for the environment. Secondly, your menu could really use some Katsu clarification. You've got two Katsu Dons on there, but neither of them seem to be the style of Katsu most people would be familiar with.. you know, the one with Tonkatsu sauce? I had to explain what I wanted to the person on the phone, and they acted like I was really putting them out. When I was picking up, I asked if I could have some ginger with the Don - the young girl behind the counter gave me a pathetically small amount, which I thought was pretty lame considering your other Dons come with ginger by default. Anyway on to the actual food - again, the styrofoam container probably had a lot to do with this (psychological factor matters!) but it just seemed really budget looking. There was nowhere near enough sauce, no salad, no slice of lemon... nothing interesting about it. Just lightly sauced katsu with a load of dry white rice. And I hate to keep harping on about it, but it was in a bloody styrofoam container! Anyway..... I probably won't get the Chicken Katsu again, but I'll certainly be back...
Read moreI used to live about a 5min walk down from this restaurant a few years ago before i moved houses and id frequent it a lot. The staff were very very lovely and always used to recognise me when I came in. They made eating there an enjoyable experience. The teriyaki chicken udon was my favourite - the chicken was tender and broth was always so flavoursome! The selection of sushi in the cabinet was always so diverse, and no matter when you came during the day there was always some left for you to grab. Recently came again and I have seen them switch to more sustainable means of packaging, which I was super happy to see! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to try Japanese food...
