The Lodge Cafe — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

We arrived at about 14h40 for a coffee and something from the cabinet. While we were sitting drinking our coffee a waitress shouted from the other side of the restaurant that they were closing. Shocking service, unbelievably bad customer experience. If there was a manager around, they certainly didn't think this was an issue. Definitely worth noting to avoid !

• edit on response to reply. I would not have taken the time to write the review on what happened if it hadn't been offensive and rude. However, interesting to see that a manager doesn't take ownership and accountability of poor training or behaviour of staff, and accepts a staff members account of an incident that took place 2 weeks ago, and the two staff members who we spoke to who were front-house said it was their FIRST day !! None of that happened, the staff member who called from about 3 tables away, hadn't in fact served us, and we were no longer there at 1510 according to my google timeline. Leading by...

I’m a local and would dine in with friends a few times (pics attached). The food and service is usually great. However, on Saturday I decided to get Eggs Benedict for takeaway with the bacon separately. The manager told her employee it will cost extra to get boxed individually (which was fine). But last minute I decided I might not eat the bacon anyways so I went without the bacon (or extra packaging). While I waited for my order, the manager reconfirmed with her employee if I still wanted the bacon and with my headphones on (ps.no sound cancellation) she also called me a cheap customer. Not cheaper for the customer but a CHEAP CUSTOMER. Thank you to the guy who served me with manners but I will not be coming back to the Lodge due to the disgusting comment and lack of manners your manager...

I've been going to this cafe off and on for the past 8years. Always has a great vib food and service always great. The Vietnamese pancake was interesting I have had few different ones so I was looking forward to it. It was actually quite different very savoury compared to what I have experienced in the past. Very enjoyable and would recommend it. Interesting when we went to pay the bill. The cashier ask how my Vietnamese pancake was. Who we found out was actually the owner and it was new on the menu. We had an interesting conversation re Vietnamese pancake and why they can vary so much. Basically each village would use what was available to them food wise and create.
