If you want a good 'kiwiana cafe experience' then drop by to 16th Ave Cafe on Cameron Road. Opens really early for those early morning risers wanting a coffee fix, or the regular workforce about to start the day. A tad old school but nothing wrong with old school.

The baking is varied and all delicious. Prices affordable, portions of everything generous and fresh and tasty, and the quality of ingredients is great .....potentially the best value club sandwiches (and fruit cake) available in Tauranga.

I only popped in for a coffee so cant comment on the food although it all did look fresh and lovely and there was a good menu to choose from. The lady running the shop on 10th March was so lovely, welcoming and friendly and ther service she gave was top of the line. Our coffee and hot chocolate were superb! Wonderful to see that your large is actually still large. Unlike most other places these days. We will definitely be back for a full meal next time we are in Tauranga. The only improvement sugfestion is maybe put some skylites in so more natural light can come into the shop and brighten it up a bit. Highly recommend everyone tries this place out. This is the one and ONLY cafe where you can get a fantastic long black in a large cup - and it's beautifully strong with good crema on top! (Their "regular" size barista-made coffee is almost more than I can manage so I've never ordered a large). It goes great with any number of goodies available in their food cabinet: from date scones and melting moments to stuffed kumara and sandwiches. And there's a blackboard menu, too.
