During my recent visit to your restaurant, I was impressed by the beautiful food and dessert, as well as the lovely mocktail I ordered.
However, our server's behavior was disappointing. Despite being a large group of 13 adults, one child, one toddler, and two infants under one year, we were celebrating a special occasion and were excited to be there. Unfortunately, our server shouted at us before giving our dessert. She shouted " Can everybody stay quiet and listen". While I understand that it may have been a busy evening, I believe that shouting at customers is unacceptable and disrespectful. This was my first experience with such behavior at a restaurant. Furthermore, while collecting used plates, our server almost hit one adult and a seven-month-old baby. I kindly request that your staff exercise greater care in the future, particularly when handling a stone grill. When one of our party attendees asked the server for a beer recommendation, she responded rudely that she doesn't drink. We understand that not everyone consumes alcohol, but working in such an establishment, one should be familiar with the menu or seek assistance from someone knowledgeable. Or you can simply answer politely.
All in all I highly recommend the restaurant as the food is truly...
Read moreI ordered the chicken pesto linguine which was nice but it didn't really have the pesto flavour. The chicken was nice and tender though. My husband ordered the ribeye stone grill which he was happy with. Good size ribeye and he swapped out the caesar salad and potatoes for fries and coleslaw which he enjoyed. The only thing he didn't enjoy was the mushroom sauce. Where we were seated was ok but it felt like were in the middle of a high traffic area (we booked through First Table so didn't expect the best seats). It would of been nice if we were warned that a team of rugby players were coming in. We only knew this because we heard the manager telling staff. If we had been told, we would of asked to sit a bit further away or even outside (there were tables available). It got very noisy and busy quite quickly right next to where we were seated. The only other thing that we weren't impressed with was hearing the manager having a go at one of the staff at the bar right near us. The young lady looked so embarrassed! If you're going to belittle your staff like that, then maybe don't do it within earshot of diners because it's not...
Read moreWe went out for dinner with relatives we haven't seen for a while, so we wanted somewhere special. A neighbour recommended CBK, so we gave it a try. We were welcomed very nicely, by a lovely young woman and were seated in a quiet, private booth. The decor was very restful and pleasant. There is a good bar and the menu is well presented, with kids menu and a variety of adult items. I ordered deluxe fish and chips, which came with scallops and calamari. Beautifully cooked and delicious. The others ordered stone grills of lamb and pork. Their food was great and they had fun cooking their meat on a hot stone. Sides were also very good and quite delicious. My brother in laws steak was great too. We shared a lovely bottle of sauvignon blanc and once the waiter was sure we were happy, were left then to enjoy our meal and a lot of talk. We didn't have to contend with interruption to our party from waiters all the time. Our waitress was lovely, with a warm welcoming manner and a delightful smile. We had a lovely night out. Thanks guys. If you're in Kaiapoi or passing through, this place is well worth...
