The food at Brigittes is exceptional. beautifully presented and full of flavour. Standout dishes included the salmon ceviche, crispy truffle parmesan hashbrowns, mince on toast, and the striking squid ink pasta, which delivered both on taste and presentation. The Bloody Mary was another highlight… savoury and well-balanced. Every bite was satisfying, and I left feeling full and happy.

Booked for 1:15 , 4 of us. It was very busy on arrival. Got our reserved table. Ordered food about 10 minutes after arrival. I ordered fish n chips, 30 minutes later our orders arrived. 2 huge fillets of fish. The batter on my fish was undercooked very doughy, I ate the fish which was ok. One other of the group also had f&c but didn’t enjoy either only took a few bites. I spoke to the manager and she spoke to the chef, advised me that it was undercooked and would remove the charge. Which she did, but only for mine. Left feeling very hungry still. Such a shame. Also the staff were busy filling up ice buckets or something it was so noisy . Have been a regular at Merivale for 48 years, the original one in Papanui Road. Hope next time batter...

Sunday lunchtime: I had a lamb salad which was beautifully cooked, with well balanced flavours - a joy to look at and delicious to eat. Others chose sausage and mash and were extremely happy with their choice. Service great, friendly and efficient. We sat inside which is well laid out and the music was a good match for the time of day. We will definitely return and will book an outside...
