I cannot recommend Scoundrel highly enough. From my first contact over the phone, to the emails and then in person preceding and on the day of our reservation the staff were polite, warm, professional, efficient and attentive. We were a very large group and we had been seated at a long table. We had a preset menu agreed on prior to our reservation and the people with specific dietary requirements carefully catered to. They had asked me on arrival for the names of those people when I arrived and the Coeliac’s food had been prepared to avoid any cross contamination. The food came out staggered down the very long table and with good lengths of time between so that people could still chat and not feel rushed while eating but not so long we were wondering how long we’d have to wait. The food was really beautifully prepared and presented and everything was delicious. The rack of hot sauces on the wall meant people could control the heat which was fun. There was a DJ which added to the atmosphere and the music was well balanced to add to the funky, chilled atmosphere but not so that you couldn’t easily speak and be heard. It was a fantastic way for our choir, The Vocal Collective, to finish off a weekend of intensive rehearsal and new learning. I loved that people could take their dogs and I got to get my dog patting fix. They have made a lot of new customers within our group. Thanks Gabs and...

We’d heard about Scoundrels and their Tacos so we headed in for lunch. We were greeted by friendly staff who accommodated our ‘off the menu’ order for one of our boys (a focaccia BLT) as we ordered a tray of Tacos and drinks for the rest of us with various dietary needs. The staff were on the ball and very friendly and the food was amazingly tasty. It renewed my faith in the CHCH hospitality scene given the many slap dash / don’t care surly subpar establishments around the place. So great to see someone understand how to make a Taco and serve really great food with surprise surprise, friendly and helpful staff who don’t sneer and actually care. This is a rarity in today’s hospitality scene and one worth acknowledging. Pay attention others. After our meal we went up to thank our server and told him we’d be back for sure. Well done Scoundrels - loved our first experience and it’s now on our very short rotation list. We will be back...

Went here for the first time with family. Was a very cold day and it wasn't the warmest in there never took my coat off. Pretty nice big open space with lots of plants and a old truck. Had chips and salad with chorizo, cheese, chickpeas and hummus to share. These were both really good and tasty would definitely get the salad again. Was excited for the tacos, They are small so would need at least 6 each. Had the shredded beef and vegetable one. They were ok pretty bland flavours not what I was expecting just needed something. Then ordered dessert. I had the date cake. I did not enjoy this at all, the cake tasted dry and stale, it was smothered in lots of very sweet toffee sauce with some kind of sweet yogurt, I couldn't finish it. My son had the orange truffle and he couldn't finish it either way too sweet and flavours just not good. Will like to go again and give it...

Scoundrel is the kind of place that makes you happy to get robbed — because they’ll steal your heart with every taco. The vibe is hip and modern, with a fun energy that feels both stylish and welcoming. Service is spot-on: quick, friendly, and warm. The food is where they really shine. Tacos are fresh, bold, and packed with flavor, with plenty of inventive combinations to keep things interesting. Best of all, the vegan options aren’t just an afterthought — they’re creative, delicious, and given as much love as the rest of the menu. It’s rare to find a spot that caters so well to everyone at the table. The side dishes are not to be missed either - the potato hash bites were particularly delicious. I will definitely return to Scoundrel and would recommend to everyone.

Amazing Food, Atmosphere, and Value for Money! I had an absolutely amazing dining experience here. The food was outstanding, with plenty of options for both vegan and vegetarian diets. The atmosphere was just perfect, whether you choose to sit outdoors in the nice open area or lounge on the comfy sofas inside. With the doors open, there was a lovely breeze that made the whole setting even more relaxing. The staff were friendly, which added to the overall positive experience. The portion sizes were very generous—I had eyes bigger than my stomach and couldn’t even finish my meal! The value for money here is spot-on, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great spot to enjoy a meal.
