EDITED FOR YOUR RESPONSE: I completely disagree with your version of events. Your summary misrepresents what occurred, and several statements made are simply untrue. Your claim that we accepted complimentary breakfast is false — we did not accept or consume any breakfast. It’s disappointing to see this included as if it were fact.
To clarify, the reception staff did not offer us a room change immediately after the first night that we “declined.” Instead, they phoned us at 8:35 pm on Saturday to offer a room change for the final night as they could not repair the toilet. Which, we happily accepted and were able to move into at 12 pm on Sunday.
The bathroom was not clean, with black hair on the shower walls, wall stains near the toilet, and toothpaste residue — all backed by timestamped photo evidence. Which on the phone, you admitted these were removed once we'd changed rooms and you were disappointed in your staff.
The toilet did not flush properly, regardless of how “loose” the button was and was unable to be repaired hence the room change. A working toilet and a clean, functional room are not luxuries; they are minimum legal and service standards.
The air conditioning only blew hot air, making the room extremely uncomfortable. The lady at reception Saturday morning said she'd sort it for us, too which we came back in the afternoon with a blistering hot heat pump turned on.
We reported these issues multiple times on Saturday and were repeatedly told they had been “sorted,” when they clearly had not been.
The suggestion that your staff are well trained and responsive is also inaccurate. The reality is that staff failed to communicate between shifts, were unhelpful, and, frankly, dishonest in how they handled our complaints. We were given repeated assurances that things were fixed when they were not, and it’s clear there was no follow-through. We also did infact notify your staff member on check out
Extremely disappointing stay – not worth the money.
We stayed from 24–27 October, and the experience was completely unacceptable. We were not given the room we booked, and the one we were put in was filthy — black hair on the shower walls, stains by the toilet, and toothpaste smeared on the wall. The toilet didn’t flush, and the aircon only blew hot air, making the room unbearable.
We reported these issues multiple times on Saturday, and each time were told they had been “sorted” — but nothing ever was. The staff clearly weren’t trained in customer service and didn’t communicate between shifts, so we had to keep going back to reception to repeat ourselves.
When we were finally moved on Sunday (our last night), the new room had aircon clicking noises and a rock-hard bed with a big lump in the middle where two beds were joined. A working toilet is the bare minimum anyone should expect, and we went without a properly functioning one for two nights.
The hotel only offered a 20% discount for the first two nights, which is completely inadequate given the circumstances. The male staff member on the last day was friendly and kind, but overall this stay was disgraceful for the price paid. No management on during the weekend and not contact to them could be made. Would...
Read moreUnfortunately, I should've listened to the TA reviews. Some previous constructive comments have not been addressed at all. |The building is an earthquake survivor. It's awesome to see it strengthened and refurbished as a hotel. You can see the 'old', the history all wrapped in pretty cool interior design - colours - contemporary art works etc. I love the big windows in the rooms, the colours the furnishings. |HOWEVER, the whole place needs someone to come through who has an eye for detail to complete and elevate. In fact - it seems that the final 'builders clean' has not been done before the hotel was handed over for paying guests! |Details - cords hanging out under the (hung too high) wallmpinted tv. Floor lamp sits too low over the comfy chair (anyone is the chair would have the lamp sitting in their heads!). Wall above the towel rail in bathroom (under air con vent) has never been wiped down - covered in dust. Aroma bottle/ reeds - would have been a nice touch, sitting under the bathroom sink - HOWEVER, the reeds were DRY, the scent bottle very empty, and the bottle itself thickly covered in dust!|Yes, I visited an early spring Sunday night - not a high tourist time - but staff were very lackluster and every time I came in/ out they seemed as though they were in that 'it's the end of my shift, I'm just counting the minutes' mood. |Possibly the worst part - looking through brochures etc in reception area - I found a Muse Hotel branded tourist map of Christchurch... the image in the front - a town 600kms away - Queenstown!!! (Muse as a company doesn't even have any accommodation properties in Queenstown!). ||Even though the location is very central, and the new stadium is only a block away, I would not bother staying again - not when I can pay an additional $30 for a nearby hotel with exceptional service and...
Read moreHas a lot of potential, but they've cheap'd out on a few things and it's holding them back. The curtains do basically nothing for the light coming in to the rooms. The TVs are old and don't appear to have streaming services, if they do it wasn't easy to figure out. (Sure you shouldn't be spending that much time in your room watching tv, but if you've been sick and aren't up for going out it's nice to have options). The pillows are a cheap fill so they aren't comfortable to sleep on or lean against in bed. The bed was comfortable but springy. Shower looks more impressive then it is but good size and the water was ho, good pressure ... there is a concerning amount of heat coming from the light backed mirror. Would have liked to seen more art for an art hotel. The smell from the personalised scent they have going is nice, but strong. Coffee from down stairs wasn't the greatest but the pastries were nice. A few basics in the mini bar would have been nice. I know U can message but convince of accessibility would be cool. Could have done something more with it being an art hotel, was expecting a bit more soul and character.
All that aside...great fascade, great location, everything was walking distance. cute vibe in the room, they got the lighting perfect. Bar upstairs was cool. The staff were delightful and very polite. Fair price. Clean facilities. Well set up room. We had no dramas with the noise from the bar. We were on the 5th floor. Was a sweet little view. Aircon unit in the room was great (was pretty muggy outside) Overall was a comfortable stay for the two days we were there. Thankyou...
