This place absolutely rocks! Best place in town by far for entertainment.
We went to Arcadia on Saturday for my sons birthday, we made a booking through messenger which was great. I grew up with Wizards in the 80's and the all you can play nights on Saturday from 7-10 were.a blast. Playing the machines and whilst at Arcadia it was a great throwback and Arcadia makes it even better as it adds modern conveniences such as refreshments and drinks. I like fish and chips and I have searched high and low around town for a fish and chip shop that can serve decent chips. Well who would have guessed that Arcadia would have the best chips in town! Cooked to perfection, not burnt or undercooked. Playing the pinballs reminded me of my youth, when I was 16 - I owned and operated a pinball machine round with over 10 machines during the pinball revival era when Adams Family and fish tails. I have owned many machines and some of the most sought after but the new Stern Ones with the Colour screens are super cool and offer something new to all ages. Im keen to buy the Kiss machine in the next year two. It can go next to my Theatre of Magic! The upkeep on the machines at Arcadia is awesome, and not an easy task doing so given the high price of replacement parts.
Arcadia is a very vibrant place and an asset to this City, if you have small children go earlier in the day they will have the run of this place. If you want some drinks with friends and some gameplay Arcadia is perfect later on in the evenings.
Well done team, top notch staff, food and an excellent business model. Keep up...
Read moreAs an old guy who grew up in spacies palours in the late 70's and through the 80's this place was a find. Nice and dark (tho a lil more light above the pinball machines would help) with a chilled atmosphere. Few kids there (Birthday thing) plus a few people my age, $15 bucks for unlimited games and you can buy a nice cold Heineken too. Had enough old-school games on offer to keep me happy, sadly no Williams Defender though 😔 Most machines had several hundred games loaded on most em (definitely NOT original vintage machines) so you could find most games you were looking for and many you'd forgotten about. Whatever the place lacks is made up for with the pinball machines. Some great games there and 3 hours flashed past. Staff were super friendly and we're always out and about cleaning the games (cause kids are gross) We were there on a Sunday and they had a kid DJ there who was spinning some pretty decent tunes (Ima raver from way back) Not as flashy as Archie Bros or Timezone but had that old-school feel about it so I'll definitely...
Read moreGreat concept and awesome to see something like this pop up in the CBD. Execution needs a bit of work, though hopefully it will improve over time. Good selection of classics but the screens are all LCDs with some ugly bilinear upscaling filter on the output, which just makes it look blurred and smudged - ya gotta embrace the crunchy pixels! A simple faux-CRT shader like CRT-Lottes would add a lot of authenticity. Gotta love the real Amiga 500 in the corner though!
The branding and design - both on the exterior and in the menus - is a bit shoddy with some spelling mistakes and tacky wordart, which cheapens the vibe somewhat. Worth chucking a bit of cash down on a proper graphic designer to give it a bit more zing.
Great stage area and can see it has a lot of potential as a live music venue, though I understand they just do karaoke and DJs...
