Yesterday, the 18th of November 2017, in the afternoon between 1pm to 3pm. My family and I went to this small french cafe named Chateaubriant thinking that we would have a lovely late lunch. Low and behold we had a very unpleasant experience. Reason being why was because the customer service was awful. We were treated in a rude manner. The staff were not accomodating, their tone of voices especially their facial expressions seemed like they did not want us there. From the moment we went in, we felt awkwardly stared at from head to toe. Apart from one staff at the kitchen area, we were the only asians in there. I firmly believed that this was the reason why they acted the way they did. They delayed our orders and have we made a follow-up but was told off in an insulting manner, coupled with irritable facial expressions even when we have not done something wrong. I do not know any cafe nor any high-end food establihment for that matter that would treat customers this way. They even served other customers who arrived way after us their orders before ours. Mind you, we have been waiting for our orders for ages.

While waiting, my 17-month old baby girl was playing with a cup of crayons available for customer's children on the table. Some of these dropped on the floor and before I had the chance to collect them myself, the staff picked them up in disgust and just tossed them on the table without a single word nor a smile. Who does this to a child? I even thanked the staff but I was ignored. This happened twice.

Overall, although the food was fine, it does not compensate the treatment we received. I cannot recommend this place at all especially if you are a minority. You...

Unfortunately had a very unplesant experience at ChĂąteaubriant, a cafĂ© in Devonport. Unbelievable. Drove all the way from other side of town. Waste of time. Took 30 mins for a disappointing crĂȘpe in thĂ© end, to arrive. Nothing spĂ©cial. Thought to ask within 15 mins but thought to wait. ThĂ©y clearly forgot to place thĂ© order and have thĂ© gall to say it was given to someone else in error. There was hardly anyone there! Good thing is thĂ© location....where it CANNOT bĂ© seen. Get it?! ThĂ© worst French cafĂ© in Auckland and yes, I have been to all!!! I did message privately of course via thĂ© gram but got blocked. Extremely immature. ThĂ© owner even looks immature and a bit bĂȘte so what can one expect! Not how you do business in NZ. Will not suceed if you don't own up to your faults. Do yourself a favour peeps and...

We have been regular customers of this cafe for many years but were totally floored with the rude and arrogant behaviour of the French owner today . When we ordered our usual coffees and a ham roll as we have been doing for years we were told that we couldn’t eat the roll at the cafe as the cabinet food was now takeaway only . In other words you can’t sit and have coffee and eat any of the cabinet food! Unbelievable . He then ignored me, walked off, served the person behind me and then said if I didn’t like the new rules I could go elsewhere , which we promptly did ! We were gobsmacked. He couldn’t care a toss that we were regulars . Talk about shooting themselves in the foot. The silver lining to this review is that the coffee across the road was far superior . We will...

One of my favourite cafes in Auckland. Hidden away from the bustling area of Devenport, I took a ferry over from the CBD. A lovely walk through the neighborhood to reach here. Greeted by very friendly staff members whom treated us really well (even received complimentary snacks at the end). My recommendation is the Les Sandwiches - all the flavours are so good! Coffee is also amazing - I often end up having two cups of coffee here as it is so well made. Lovely French atmosphere and good seating area both indoors and outdoors. I highly recommend this cafe to all!

Real bread, the best pastries and great coffee. Under new management and looking fresher snd better than ever. Still the same quality food, your old favorites as we as some new treats. Be prepared though. It is also super busy, but everything under control so wait is short! 😄 Still going strong. Always some new treats to tempt you.

The menu food still looks good, but sadly the sandwich situation has massively deteriorated since our last visit. They used to do the most incredible made-to-order baguettes. No more. Got a totally average pre-made sandwich with supermarket-grade bread and ham.
