Stunning views from atop Mount Victoria in Devonport. A short 10-15min walk to the base (from the Ferry Terminal) then a 10-15 min walk to the top of the hill - less if you drive halfway up to the parking spot (but few parks available).

There are a few short cuts as you walk up (through the little paths in the bush) and it's manageable for most people I would say. You can always stop for a breather on the way up

The old tunnels are at the top, and the views right across the bays towards Auckland City as well as the other side of the harbour - are phenomenal.

Well worth a visit (take a picnic) if you're in Devonport or fancy an afternoon...

I observed that tourists who just arrived at Auckland, normally visits this place first. It gives you a good view of the city from afar. It is also close to Devonport so that is definitely a plus. We came here one time at night. It was stunning. Stunning I tell you. It was cold but worth it. Mount Victoria is beautiful day and night. Perfectly situated. One side gives a city view. The other side shows a wonderful view of Rangitoto. Visit once on a full moon night. Take my advice for it. You won't regret it. You will have to park your car half way through but it's not a long walk. So it is not a...

An iconic peak and location offering 360 degree views to the Auckland city skyline and the North Shore. The walk to the top of the summit is decent and normal fitness levels are needed for that. There is a radio communication station on the top of the peak along with an old wartime canon which is still kept there as a souvenir. The area is popular with locals and tourists equally. There is parking available at the start of the road access to the top and one cannot take cars on the top of the peak now a days. Great location for a couple of hours outing with...
