It gives me no pleasure in being negative. We addressed this in the restaurant at the time as well. The message here to Dulcie is that there needs to be more planning and consideration of your customers. We will not be returning (also last weekend we returned a meal as the greens that were served were old and yellow). Today is Father's Day as such we booked a table for an 85 year old father and an 84 year old mother for 8.15am. Our 84 year old was so excited as she turned 84 yesterday. They loved the placed before so we thought we should treat them to somewhere that they thought was special. We were asked to leave at 8.55am, apparently this came from the chef and we were told the booking was only for 1 and a half hours and the table was booked. We were not even there for 1.5 hours - and had only just finished our meals and were enjoying chatting. Then to be interrupted - and told this was very off putting. It is not the staff's fault. It is very unlike the 84 year old to complain but she was very sad and thought that the experience was terrible - she voiced her opinion at the time. We don't have many Fathers Days left to be enjoyed together - the meal for us is not just about the food - it is being able to connect. This was really disappointing. Our family all live locally - so let's hope that you still get destination diners - as there are many of us locals that have had subpar experiences with you. I am sorry but this has really...
Read moreIt's true - this is one of Auckland’s most sophisticated day time eateries.
After a recent week in Sydney eating at different cafe's every day we wondered why Auckland had fallen so much off the pace.
Dulcie showed us there is still innovation in Tamaki Makaurau. I had a very satisfying breakfast sandwich. Helen had what she called "the best eggs bene ever" with a caccio pepe base.
We shared a smoked cheese scone with bacon butter. Men have gone to war for less.
The seating and design is a bit sparse but the service more than made up for it. A delightful new find. Can't wait to try the soon to be launched evening options.
Fun fact - I came here on the recommendation of a friend from work and as we arrived on Friday morning Helen said "are you taking me back to the place where you proposed to me?"
A quarter of a century ago this was the Watermark restaurant, and yes, this is where I proposed to my love. 25 year later we are still happy (with each other and the romantic venue...
Read moreBeautiful cafe with stunning view and friendly service! We visited the cafe on Saturday morning and it was buzzing with many customers. We were a group of 4 but managed to be seated without making reservation, and was attended with friendly service. As the place was busy we decided to opt for coffee and scone as we were limited with time. We were seated with views to the stunning kitchen and the beach - picturesque! It took good 15-20 minutes for our scones to be served to our table and not sure if it was because the cafe was relatively busy (and was waiting too long on the bench to be served) but by the time we got them, they were cold on the outside - nevertheless, the scones were delicious! We also ordered both black and white coffees and found our long blacks to have no coffee crema and lukewarm, and as with the scones, we were unsure whether this was again because it was busy but would be back to try their food as their menu...
