Lacklustre experience at Botanix cafe at Palmers Gardens Centre. Ordered a Big Breakfast, it was meant to come with a large grilled Portobello mushroom, instead it came with two tiny button mushrooms which hardly equates to a large or even small sized Portobello. I queried the hostess about this and she blamed the chef about being stingy but didn't offer anything additional to compensate. For an expensive $30 breakfast this was pretty poor. The pork sausage I was excited about was miniscule when the plate arrived too. On the plus side, the food was hot and it was tasty, even though it was pretty meagre and utilitarian in presentation. The cabinet looked to be filled with some yummy items we were intending on ordering after brunch but because of our experience with the mediocre service and stingy serving size, we decided to leave after eating without purchasing further drinks or afters. With all the great cafe choices available in Hamilton, we won't be going...
Read moreI ordered a heated almond croissant for $9.50. It arrived barely warm so I asked if it could be heated up. It was then overheated in a microwave and was flat and rubbery. I explained to the waitress that French pastries should not be microwaved and she politely took it away. Ten minutes later I was presented with the same croissant which had been burnt in an oven. It looked terrible. I asked the manager for a refund and I was told "No because it's your fault as you should have asked for it to be heated in the oven when you ordered it." I held the floppy croissant up to show how bad it was and again asked for a refund. She again refused. So I said I would take it further. She then grudgingly offered an unheated croissant to take away. When I got home I heated the croissant in the oven and it was actually lovely... unlike the destroyed one and the...
Read moreNot a very nice visit today, my husband and I were discussing what we would like, he wanted a toasted sandwich and I told him to go and find somewhere to sit and as he walked off the chinese lady at the till called out "oi" or "boy" could not tell which asking if he wanted salad or chips, I said to her we have not decided yet what we are having, very rude. I had a pie which sounded nice, chicken and mushroom, when it arrived it was almost flat, the pastry was so soft it was almost rubbery to eat, and if there was chicken in there I am not sure where, it was like porridge inside with a few chunks of mushroom, was not heated properly either as the middle of it was luke warm, not good when eating chicken, left it for the birds to have. Wont go back again, am starting to feel a bit sick now, hope I dont get food...
