The service was less than excellent. They used IPads for us to make our orders which is fine and efficient in general but in my view the staff were too reliant on them and weren't able to provide the attentive service required. I lost count how many different waiters we dealt with and it all felt like a night of shambles with no one knowing what was going on. Although we put in our three course meal orders when we arrived, we had to wait over an hour between courses and had to go back and ask multiple times "where is our food", "is it coming". Although they said sorry multiple times when asked, they made excuses for the slowness priorising a larger group of customers when really they knew hours before what we ordered and should've accounted for that when getting the meals out. Also, if they knew there were big groups of people, they should've had more staff on shift to get through the service with efficency and haste. My meal of seafood chowder, salmon and assortment of ice creams was delicious and that's the only positive thing I can say. The people on my table had overcooked meat and frozen desserts which should've been hot which was very disappointing after the long wait times between meals. I also use a power wheelchair and was very disappointed that they would place the big group of customers right where the wheelchair access door was - the only access door without a ramp. They essentially blocked off access. When I went to leave I was directed to an exit which had a step (don't you know your own building?) and then when they were trying to figure out how I could exit (I imagine without wanting to disturb the big group of customers), we had to ask the customers to move ourselves and tell them to move the tables so I could get out. No good. Consider moving the group table somewhere else so it's not blocking the main access way (umm fire hazard?) for us people who it's it's our only point of access or put in a ramp/removed the step. Consider improving your overall service and if you're going to use iPad's you can't be reliant on them. Actually be attentive to your paying customers. Do better, it's not...
Read moreMy husband, child and I decided to come here for a lil dinner outing.
We ordered: Iguana Experience (share platter, mixed grill platter, dessert platter) kids fish, chips and salad meal
We arrived just after 5pm when it was quieter so we had the benefit of quick service. Polite welcome and offered a table near the fire, woo!
Share platter was awesome, looked good enough to blog! I highly recommend their chicken wings! The ribs were amaze, meat just fell off the bone. We ate everything and only had a bit of the house sauces left.
Mixed platter, phwoar. Asked for medium rare sirloin, got medium rare sirloin. The fish was cooked just right with a lil crispy skin. The chicken was well cooked and was perfect with the amazing smoked kumara puree, wow I'd order that puree anyday!
Veges and salads for both platters helped switch up the eating and were refreshing to eat, with balsamic dressing.
Dessert platter topped off the whole experience with a brownie, a strawberry cheesecake, a coffee flavoured panna cotta, vanilla ice cream scoop, French vanilla ice cream scoop, and cookies and cream ice cream scoop. There was also a side of whipped cream and a lil pink wafer. This is definitely for those who love to indulge their sweet tooth I tell ya!
My child smashed back their kids meal, which came with a dessert, and they choose a chocolate Sunday.
We were checked in on plenty of times while we enjoyed our meals, our table was cleared promptly and we felt well taken care of by the waiters and waitresses that served us.
Decent servings, great service, pricing range well worth the food in our experience. We had to walk to the kitchen and say thank you personally.
They have goody membership, and are also in the Entertainment Book for those who want to experience what we did with a bit of savings.
Thanks Iguana, happy to...
Read moreWe ordered the 3 course set menu soon after arriving and each course despite this, each course took over an hour to come to us needing to be prompted and asked multiple times (after giving the benefit of the doubt) whether they were coming out. We were given the excuse of they were busy with a big booking which is very dismissive. Like we're paying customers too and had made a booking? Not good enough. Although the staff were friendly enough and apologetic about the wait (we were there for over three hours because of how long the food took to come) the communication and service wasn't great. The entrees were yum, probably the highlight of the meal. The favourite on our table was the fried chicken, bao and chowder. Started out super strong but went downhill fast. The mains were average and took ages. The meat of venison and steak was very overdone from what we ordered and the vegetables were honestly embarrassing looked like they came from a McCain frozen vegetable bag, the potatoes though we're amazing and saved the dishes. Now the desserts. We were told a couple times that they were being made and going to be brought out and when they did only half came, none of which had been "made" rather attempted to be defrosted. These took over 30mins after waiting over 30mins to ask a staff where they were. The sticky date pudding was embarrassing. Came out cold and freezer burnt but by this stage we were over being there for three hours so just wanted to leave so didn't bother sending it back. Honestly such a disappointment. Im sure if we were on that other big booking table this review would've been a completely different story. Won't go again. I really hope other people have better experiences. We have never had such a bad experience at any...
