A friend recommended this place to us and this was the second time we visited the eatery for takeout. Amongst other dishes, my husband wanted to try their BBQ pork and when he ordered, he specifically asked for a piece of lean BBQ pork. And we asked to have the BBQ pork takeaway as a whole piece as we like to slice it at home to the thickness our kids prefer. So we couldn’t assess the fattiness of the pork on the spot. When I got home I found out 70-80% of the pork was fat, which is the opposite to what we asked for. Their Bbq pork is made with pork belly ( 五花腩) and our piece was mostly just fat. I cannot give that to my son. When I separated the fat from meat, there wasn’t much left for my son to consume.
It is disappointing, as the whole purpose of getting take out was to have a chill evening. I ended up having to make another meat dish as a protein top up for the family.
I’d wish I had taken better photos. I understand some people enjoy having their Bbq pork with some fat. But our cut was unacceptable as it was unreasonably fat and most of it ended up in the waste bin. I have relatives who own restaurants and I ran this pass them, they said it is poor ethics to even roasting this piece of fat and selling it to their customers knowing that it is too fat for anyone to consume.
For those who are concerned about fatty bbq pork I suggest not going...
Read moreWe had an exceptional dining experience at Chen Kee! The food was outstanding, with traditional Cantonese flavours shining through. We ordered the special tofu dish, crispy prawn balls, beef brisket soup, and the mouthwatering mix platter of roast pork and duck - all incredibly fresh and reasonably priced. We had plenty leftover for takeaway!
Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, making our meal even more enjoyable. The service was genuinely friendly and attentive, a rare find!

I love the food and will definitely recommend it to my colleagues and locals who haven’t...
