Charcoal Chicken — Restaurant in Howick

Service was great very friendly staff but the southwestern chicken bites were horrible. They were hard to bite into and bits were burnt and chicken wasn't fresh... oil may need changing and a strand of white fibre (not sure if was a hair so not stating it is). Took it back wasn't offered money back just looked at like i should expect it cause its fried. I may have only spent $38 for a burger, bites and milkshake but I expect reasonable food quality. Disappointed 😞 Giving 2 stars as my daughter was happy with her burger and milkshake.

As my 12 and 10 year old just waved nicely at you guys when we left as I walked out with them and said thank you to you guys nicely? Poor behavior? When I handed back the box of chicken I asked do you guys double fry your food?then said well I bit into it and it was so hard it hurt my teeth and gum and said my daughters order is fine but this is not ok quality when I can't bite into it because its too hard and then left it with the lovely lady and walked nicely back to my children. Nothing poor about that I didn't swear nor make a scene I said my piece also said my daughters order was fine and continued to still thank you guys as I left gracefully because that is the behavior I expect from my children. Really disappointed with the food and the staff. We went to the Botany store about 2 weeks ago and ordered 2 peri peri charcoal chicken and kids burger meal.

Got our food, waited about 30 mins and we got overcooked steamed chicken with pasta sauce thrown on top like a dip, no sign or taste of charcoal or smoky flavour nor peri peri taste. Both the chicken was like this. Kids fries were hard but burger was okay.

We only took few bites and knew this isn’t a peri peri charcoal chicken - tasted like hospital food or infact hospital food tastes better than this meal we got. Went to the staff and got told this is how it’s made and they will pass the feedback to the chef. They didn’t want to see what’s wrong with the food or offer any solution. They got the money and that’s it. We took the food away and gave it to someone else to eat as we were put off from eat this food.

I then messaged the Facebook team and got told to email the admin team. Emailed them twice about the feedback but nothing till now.

I won’t recommend them. They don’t value their customers neither the quality of food they serve. Go somewhere else if you want good food and...

So sad but have to give this place a 1 star. I’ve always loved their food, but this time they stuffed it up. I ordered the South American half chicken and some other extras. 10 mins after ordering they called us to tell us they out of chicken. we were very annoyed but couldn’t do much. So instead we ordered the fried chicken and told them that well keep the remaining extras on the order. Waited 40 mins for our food to be ready and even had the cleaners come up asking everyone to leave. Finally fed up of waiting and by this time mall was closing, we approached the counter only to find our food was waiting to be collected. The staff didn’t ping us to collect the food at all. We had to takeaway our food and only when we drove the 30 mins car ride back home, did we find out they missed giving us the fries!! Such pathetic and useless service honestly wasted the entire night just waiting for them to serve fried chicken and chips. Could have easily saved the money, time and hassle by going some...
