Morena Cafe — Restaurant in Howick

I am very disappointed with the quality in the food and the customer service ... first of all my friend ordered a drink and she had no idea what the drink even was my friend had to explain it to her even tho it was on their order menu, next I asked if they have cream with their lemon tart and she said we have whipped cream and I said okay can I please have that with the whipped cream and she said “I will give you the cream this time but next time no” I was like you literally just said I could have it, if your saying you provide it then get angry at me for asking for it (terrible !!!) then once we got the food she shoved it down like she was angry, the food was dry and the peach ice tea that my friend ordered tasted like tea !! So we nicely asked if she got it mixed up and would have been fine if she admitted it but she said no that’s it, so at the same time I asked how long the food had been in the cabinet for and she said “since yesterday” it was very dry and horrible I am not impressed at all, and not to mention the customer service was on another level!! she was so rude to us for no reason. Ordered a cheese and spinach scone to takeaway in the AM. Looked inside and saw mould! I told the manager lady that I think my scone is mouldy (in a nice manner as I'm a very shy person), and she started yelling at me! She said no, this is not mould, I just made the scones this morning, it is flour. She picked off the white bits from the scone and showed it to my face to prove it. I was quite taken back with the yelling and confrontation. She said she will give me another scone, so I agreed. This time she came back with the scone sliced open and heated, she pointed the scone saying look there's nothing here ok. To be honest I didn't trust her, I felt like she just gave me the same scone with the "mould" removed, but I was too scared to say anything else. I apologised immensely for wasting her time and quickly left. (She never apologised to me, only said yeah everything here is fresh ok and so on...) I looked at the other reviews here and saw there were a few other people that had "mould" on their food, so I guess it explain why she reacted so hastily towards me... Safe to say I won't be coming back here again. Much better off going to Robert Harris...

I have often stopped in here for a cuppa before I start my shopping, not any more, ordered a cup of tea, that’s all, 10 minutes later I was till waiting, I asked for my money back, which was given to me politely by a young Asian woman, there were also a lot of other orders, how do I know because I saw them when she cancelled my tag, either your short staffed or too busy doing Uber orders which was the case last time, which I was silly enough to wait then, not anymore. I went straight down to The Presshouse and ordered a cup of tea and had it within 3 minutes. It’s only a cup of tea. And no I don’t mind waiting, but should’ve been told if she was busy. Seeing I can’t add today’s , I’ll add it this one, nothing has changed, thought after 6 months I’d try again, alas still had to wait for a cup of tea, that was all, failed to deliver, when I went up to the counter, she hadn’t even made it 🤦🏻‍♀️ it takes but a second to make a cup of tea, disgusting service, I guess the Uber Eats are more important, than the person with the one cup of tea, I’ve now learnt my lesson, never again will I go there 👎🏻 Today’s...
