April 2024.
This was our first time to try Miyuki. I did not have any particular place in mind and Miyuki just happened to be conveniently located at the corner of Picton and Wellington Streets. The menu posted outside did pique our interest.
Being in Howick village, it had the old building vibe that I like, although, the interior did look a bit tired and in need of some sprucing up. There was plenty of seating available when we arrived.
Now, let us discuss the food.
For starters, the lotus chips were very brown but still edible. Their saving grace was their crunchiness. The side of spinach with roasted sesame gave a nice contrast to my main dish - the Vege Yaki Udon which I really liked. I have tried vegetarian noodles from other Japanese restaurants before, but this one was the tastiest.
Will definitely consider this place if we visit Howick village again...
Read moreTasty food, portion size is on the smaller side so for most people I think you will need an entree and main at a minimum and maybe a dessert as well. Can make eating here on the pricey side depending on the entree you go with - our last visit came to about $30 per person.
Been here a couple of times, no issues in the first visit but the latest visit in Nov 2020 with my Wife and friend had a long wait for food. We all ordered entrees at the same time but they came out one at a time, the first and second entree came out within a couple of minutes of each other but the third was a good 15-20 minutes after the second. Had to ask to make sure they hadn't forgotten the last entree! If not for this would have given 5 stars.
The mains came out in reasonable time and together so no issue there.
The food itself is great! Fresh, tasty and certainly...
Read moreSpent $170 for two of us and left the place with empty stomach. We would NEVER go back not only because of the tiny portion size but because of the tasteless food and unprofessional staff.
First of all, if you order sake here you can choose between cold or warm. So we ordered chilled sake then we got lukewarm sake🤷🏻♀️ We asked staff if we could get cold one as we ordered but the only answer we got was that they don’t have any cold ones of the one we ordered. No offer of substitution or problem solving from the staff. Instead We asked staff for ice bucket so we can keep it cold at least but we got a bucket full of water with few ice cubes. Jokes
Udon broth taste nothing more than water.
As you can see the picture, thats the size of sashimi. Smaller than radish.
