Noodle Canteen — Restaurant in Invercargill City

This place has gone downhill. Used to be a regular lunch spot but not anymore.

Starting with 5 stars like other restaurants. But -0.5 stars with the noisy fans and unwelcoming atmosphere, but it’s a takeaway.

Then minus another star for poor service - we waited 25 minutes for our meals and the place was dead, the guy at the till did not understand what we wanted and the order wasn’t right - it was supposed to be spicy Sambal fried rice but tasted of the earth - bland. Guy seemed clueless and unwelcoming.

The food was alright, but not great. Someone ordered the sambal fried rice and it was 90% rice and 10% chicken and vegetables with no flavour. I ordered the honey chicken fried rice, and it was alright. So minus 1 star.

Then the big issue - their food safety certificate was reasonably outdated. So there’s another 1.5 star.

Not horrible, but...

As everyone else has been saying after the new owners took over its gone completely down the toilet. Where is the older guy who wore the old cap!!! I want him back!!! I used to regularly come here and this was definitely a spot I would've recommended but after multiple terrible experiences I won't be going back. One instance the young lady I was served by prepard meat in front of me (no gloves or washing hands after doing so) then handled the efpos machine and tried to give it to me to pay. I pointed that out to her and she just gave me a blank stare and said nothing. This is basic kitchen practice. Every other time I've made orders and they've come to me wrong with no flavour. Really tired of you guys closing at 8 instead of 9 like google has posted.You guys need to set up a Facebook page or something to let you costumers know in advance, driving 30 minutes into town only for you guys to be closed is frustrating, it happens too often, especially after the change of owners and the food tasting different for weeks you guys finally get the hang of it and now closing early.
