Temptations & BeyondBurg — Restaurant in Invercargill City

Beef patties have taco seasoning mixed in.. also quite salty. Very confusing mouth feel first 5 seconds is burger and salt but good texture, fresh produce, cooked well, everything you're expecting. But then comes an overpowering flavour of taco seasoning, like an el de paso from the supermarket. Makes no sense for a burger as its soft mush that tastes like straight taco beef. Hot dog is also spiced strange but more tolerable, cheese unmelted mixed through sauce, but the bun was oversized stale baguette type bread, chewy. Made no sense for a hot dog. Loaded fries selected grilled chicken, received more taco seasoned chopped up beef pattie instead. Fries were soggy (to be expected with loaded fries) but not seasoned at all. You can see what they're going for and may appeal to an acquired taste, but definitely not worth near $20 for a burger that tastes like a taco. Hotdog $10 wouldn't pay more than $2 for it. Plus a 40-50 min wait time. Marketed as gourmet, pictures are not accurate either but that's to be expected. Would not recommend if you're craving a burger or hotdog. Lady working there very friendly and accommodating, and can see they're trying. But very underwhelming and confusing flavours for burger joint. Would expect these flavors at Turkish kebab or...

Was very excited to try beyondburg, but ended up extremely disappointed. Their burgers look nothing like the photos, and I know that's a common thing for people to say at many fast food chains, but this is to another level. The patties are straight up half the diameter of what is shown in the photos. If you order a same-priced burger from burger fuel or Devil burger you would be getting straight up roughly twice the meat and twice the flavour. The only thing that slightly redeems beyondburg is the fact that the protein smoothie tasted nice. But not enough for me to rate them a two star, because the burgers are genuinely horrible and I hope nobody has to go through the disappointment I went through.

Edit: I just saw beyondburgs response to my review and thought I would address some of what they said. "Contact us to make it up to you" is a lie and merely an attempt to save face. I called them up immediately after I opened up my two pathetic attempts at burgers, and the only response I received was "yeah sorry, we are a new business and we will improve." Nothing offered in the way of a refund. So if you see their response to this and think "oh well at least if I don't like them I can probably just easily get a refund" you're wrong. Just avoid...

Huge sign out front saying “Coffee” but no coffee available. Walked in to an empty shop, waited a few minutes before someone came out. No greeting, no friendliness — just a flat “Good” when I asked how she was today.

Ordered two desserts and two coffees. After a long pause, she said “no coffee.” When I asked why, she said the machine wasn’t working — even though it was clearly on behind her, showing 119°C ready to go on the display screen. When pressed further, she just said “they need experts” and looked away.

The desserts from the cabinet were ok, but the overall experience was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our family, friends, and colleagues visiting this week won’t be considering this place after my experience.
