Honest Kitchen — Restaurant in Manawatū-Whanganui

I ordered via Uber eats, feb 19th, 2024. Mac and cheese, ceaser salad and a stuffed chicken breast. The chicken breast was about a $5 size at most, costing close to $25. It was dry, unseasoned and even the filling was dry and uninteresting. No where near enough to be called a meal. The ceaser salad that also cost over $20 was literally just a small bowl of lettuce with dressing, a tiny bit of diced bacon and half a boiled egg. The only positive was that the lettuce was fresh, but luckily because that was literally all it was. They replaced the Mac and cheese with a lasagne after trying to call me but I did not see the incoming call. I find it hard to believe it would have been cooked that same day. Everything came stone cold so we had to microwave the food. I was in whanganui for a holiday and this was my first experience eating there. For $80, we were barely fed and had to heat everything ourselves just for under seasoned, unflavoured, small portions of what was not quality food. Very little to no skill within the cooking…… coming from someone who has worked hospo and management her entire life, over 20 years, and in multiple kitchens, bars and restaurants . Incredibly disappointing....

Large variety of good, proper, healthy and top quality food at a very reasonable price that almost has to be seen to be appreciated. They also cover all special dietary requirements like keto, GF, vegan etc. About the same price, if not cheaper, than a takeaway chain feed (McDs/BK/KFC etc.) and a lot more healthy, tasty and satisfying. The good range of readymade meals are awesome, you can grab one on the go to heat up later on or they will heat it up for you then and there. I also like how you can 'pick n mix' to fill your container from the cabinet, a bit like a smorgasbord type situation. You can find everything here from a sweet snack, right through to a big hearty meal, including a good range of salads. The foods on offer chop and change regularly so there's always something different to try. The staff are the icing on the cake, always friendly, helpful and patient and are a credit to the business. Amazing team here, producing a huge range of fresh, quality, delicious food. Multiple GF/DF/vegan/paleo options but also tasty meat dishes: I appreciate they are working hard to cater to everyone. The front counter staff do an amazing job; it is so busy during the lunch hours but they are unfailingly friendly, helpful and fast. I really appreciate them and the great food (and coffee).

Note that this is primarily a takeaway operation; there is a counter and barstools but it would only be a comfortable place to sit early and late in their opening hours as it's a small space and there's a press of customers over the lunch hours.
