The only thing I can recommend is that you spend your money elsewhere.

This club has "policies" which are illegally discriminatory to those that wear religious headwear. They are also selective about who these "policies" apply to or who they refuse entry to based on their "no headwear" rule. They deny the racist foundations of this policies citing "the same rules have applied for the last 50 years", however, this is not an acceptable argument and denying a person entry because of their religious beliefs goes directly against the New Zealand Freedom of Religion Laws. Many people consider their religious headwear (eg. Turban) as a part of their body, and the government recognises this, as it is allowed in passport photos etc.

Till these racist and outdated policies change, I would NOT recommend the Manurewa Cosmopolitan...

Manurewa Cosmopolitan Club has racist policies they justify under the guise of ‘tradition’. Breaking news people, your policy is RACIST! No way else to put it. If you are going to use baseless justifications as an attempt to hide the fact, it’s not working. This policy is for people to remove all headwear even cultural/religious headwear. I find the audacity to ask people to remove these items as incredibly ignorant, and there is absolutely no justifiable basis to do so. This is an act of discrimination, racial discrimination. Despite this fact I’m not sure you would go to this place anyway because it is nothing special. People who attend this establishment are complacent to the discriminatory policies...

I am a life member of a fellow Cossie Club, and yes I agree with the non wearing of hats and similar attire on Club premises. However it seems that there has been a mistake made, with umimagined consequences, with respect to the turban incident. This is not some local ratbag with a hoodie and cap and sunglasses on!!! This a person wearing recognised religious headwear. Would the Club decline a nun from attending a function, purely because she was wearing a habit? If the answer is yes, then a consistent, but in my view wrong, call has been made. If the answer is no then you will have failed to be consistent.
