Black Pearl Cafe — Restaurant in Napier

I have been looking for a good ramen place in the Hawksbay for ages, until today i didn't think there was one.

Thankful my partner and I gave this place a chance and I glad we did. Don't let the odd name and even odder signage out front fool you, this place is leagues above the majority of asian places in the area.

The price was just right for the meals, the portions were great, flavour and presentation were on point.

The menu has many different asian cuisines to choose from but at the same time not overloaded.

A great selection of drinks. Coffees, teas and Boba's all with great flavours, plus a good selection of beers and wines.

Staff were friendly and well presented. Facilities looked great, don't know about the toilets tho as we didn't use them but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and will say they were probably sparkling clean and well maintained.

Not sure what else to say but I will definitely come back to try more...

Ramens taste was very average, very sweet, not real Japanese flavour at all. Staff service was very average as well, not even friendly or thoughtful, so I ended up got a main size ramens and main size fried chicken with rice (#19 on the menu) (I am dining in, by myself), thought I ordered the ramens with starter size of fried squid #9 on the menu), and staff who took my order never wondered and more like not her business attitude how can I a girl finish a big bowl of ramen and big bowl of rice with main size dish. My fault of course, because I did paid, but a good customer service can just double check, not a job required but with nice intentions of thinking from the other side of role. Myself and my wife and son dined in last night and the bubble tea was delicious but our foods we ate weren't that nice after a few hours of eating your food I was not feeling to great I was sitting on the toilet with diarrhoea at home and hugging the toilet bowl vomiting my guts out after eating your Tom yum soup I call it Tom yuck the food preparation wasn't up to health safety standard and my soup came too quickly it felt like you just heated it up in the microwave without making it fresh and I ate someone else's meal just cause they didn't like it I will not recommend this restaurant to anybody if your not going to work on your food safety and give customers someone else's meal just cause...
