Mexicali Fresh Napier — Restaurant in Napier

Lots of problems with communication. I ordered the $12 nachos special on a Thursday and didn't realize until after I tapped my card that I was charged full price. I tried to explain to the server that I wanted the $12 nachos and pointed to the poster that has the special and he got another staff member to help me. I had to explain to the next staff member too that I ordered the nachos but was accidentally charged full price and pointed out the poster to him too and he seemed to understand. He got me to tap my card which I thought was the refund as it was roughly the amount I was overcharged but then the first server I spoke to came to my table and gave me a cash refund for the difference in price. I explained the other server had given me a refund on my card but this man said no that was the charge for the chips (???). He then asked me if I did want chips so I asked him if they were spicy cause I can't handle spice and he said he would ask the kitchen to put plain salt on instead of the usual. I got home and found they did put the spicy seasoning on, so the chips I never ordered but paid for anyway had to go in the bin. They were very polite and apologetic for the initial error but it would have saved me a lot of money if they had just been honest about not understanding what I was saying I would have been happy to explain it in a different...

Visited Mexicali Fresh Napier in its opening week and have not been back since!

I ordered a vegetarian burrito minus tomoato due to an allergy. After my second bite I discovered that it was a pulled pork burrito. I took it straight back to the counter and went to the bathroom to freshen up. During this time the staff had prepared another burrito. I left the burrito on the table in front of me for a few minutes as I wasn't quite up to eating at that point. Nevertheless I decided to investigate the burrito, because surely they couldn't get it wrong a second time? To my delight it contained no meat, however, it was crammed full of salsa and fresh tomato. I am allergic!!

When I took it back a second time the lady behind the counter just huffed and sighed at the situation, and was reluctant at returning my money. To add insult to injury moments after I was glared at by what I can assume was the manager on duty, after the lady had informed him of what had happened.

I do not recommend this place if you have any sort of dietary requirement whatsoever. It seems anything barr what's exactly on the menu is too much work...

Food was good, I've tried the chicken tacos! However, customer service wasn't the best. I've brought my notebook to do some stuff while having some food and when I was about to leave a lady came to the table to tell me it was $5 per hour for using the power and that I had to pay $10. I explained to her that they should tell people that as soon as they see they are using a device not after, or at least have a sign available since you have plugs near the tables I assume that clients can use them. Her reply (in a rudely way) was: Have you asked? And no, I haven't. But I didn't because I didn't know I was doing something that wasn't "allowed". And again, you should tell people that as long as you see they plug something in not after cos a lot of places don't charge for using them so I can't just assume it. So I had to pay $10 (even though I've been there 1.30hs but unwilling to discuss with this lady). Really...
