My partner and I went out on a limb and decided to go for dinner at Napier Lone Star on Monday 11/10/21, after I had not been there for about 10 years due to the quality of the food from the previous owner's management. The Duty Manager, Alistair, was very welcoming and accommodating due to my dietary restrictions and provided a blanket for me as it was chilly outside. He and the other waiters were very attentive, completing meal checks and coming over when I looked their way for assistance even when it started to get busy, which coming from a past waitress is really important for customer satisfaction. I ordered a coke and it tasted like it was fresh out of a bottle! Every other cafe or restaurant I go to their ratios are really off with how they make their mixers and it always tastes quite bad. My partner was happy to see they had Panhead Supercharger available which is a fantastic craft beer. We were starving so we ordered the garlic loaf which was so yummy and fresh, and a good portion size. We also got the mixed bean dip with flour tortilla chips and it was so amazing, I wanted to recreate the dip at home haha. I ordered the Vege burrito for my main which came with a side of slaw and rustic cut potato chips and my partner got the classic Johnny Cash stash. Our meals were really delicious and we were so stuffed we couldn't finish them. Both our starters and meals came out quickly too. Thank you all for a lovely evening with great food and customer service, we will definitely be back!

Centrally located, and right infront of beach on Marine Parade, with ample parking off the street. Even though we have been to Hawkes Bay few times, this was the first time we thought to try out Lone Star. Went there last evening for dinner, and came back absolutely happy and full. We were so delighted with all food, service and ambience, that we decided to visit them again today for lunch, and tried out new items. Damn, my three year old son also wanted to come back here for the fish and mashed potato, and a traffic light drink for the kids. Not to mention how proud he was to show his artistic skills on the drawing paper provided. The restaurant provides you with a very detailed menu (American and Mexican), and a decent choice of drinks as well. "Johnny Cash Stash" (chicken) offers you with a big and full portion. "Prawn Star" was probably the best and biggest seafood dish we had in Napier. We also tried two pork dishes - "Lassoo of Hog" (which was not too bad) , and the "Redneck ribs" (which stole the show, hands down!!) It's one of the best pork ribs I have ever had in my life. You can also try out their sauce which they sell at the shop (I got one for myself) 😉 Price might seem a bit on the higher side, but the portion size of each and every dish justifies the price tag. And they are among those few who did not put a stupid surcharge on either the 1st or the 2nd of January. I wish I could have given them 6 stars !!!! I'm definitely coming back the next time I'm in Hawkes Bay.

This was a slightly odd place, with a country western theme in the middle of New Zealand. We started outside, for a drink first of all, and then moved inside for a further drink and some food. We've found eating out in New Zealand to be reasonably priced, but this place was higher priced than most we visited. It sounded like they were offering a meal to match their pricing, but they under delivered on what was advertised. First of all service - this was very good. We were served by a young woman who was thoughtful, attentive and very helpful. She made suggestions, kept an eye on our table, and responded very quickly when we needed anything. Now to come to the food. We ordered one of the specials 'Savannah Lamb.' I've attached a photo of one of the advertising leaflets with a picture of slices of lamb looking very succulent and attractive, which was why we ordered it. I've also attached a picture of the actual dish when it arrived. It looks more like a lamb stew, with lumps of lamb rather than a sliced roast. We ate it, and it was okay, but if I'd known how different it would be from the advert I wouldn't have ordered it. For drink we decided to have a local wine. It was nice, drinkable, juicy, pleasant with very little aftertaste. Again I struggled with the description though. The drinks list - photo attached again describes it as "a dark and fragrant Bordeaux style red" again I found that over-promising. It didn't have the tannins and depth I would have expected for that. So somewhat disappointing, mainly in that they talked an extremely good game, but didn't come close to performing to the level they promised.

The customer service by the guy who seated us was awesome he was lovely. However the young trainee girl forgot our water we had asked for , was quite rude when it came to me ordering for my children as she assumed I was ordering off the children's menu for myself which clearly I wasn't when my two under 7 year old children were seated by her and can clearly see they cannot order for themselves. She was quick to snap and assume. The ribs were very sickening after awhile was very sweet but was lovely , huge portion. Different taste very orangey. My partner wasn't a fan of the coleslaw , it lacked flavour but his steak was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was yum. My children enjoyed their meals and the attention they were getting from the waiter that seated us. The seats are dangerous as my daughters seat kept giving way from underneath her and falling over , rubber feet on the wooden chairs would help to prevent anyone else getting injured like this especially an elderly person. My daughter has bruised her tailbone from simply getting off her seat or reaching for her glass of drink. The disabled toilets/baby changing facility is absolutely revolting the smell that comes from that toilet is disgusting it lingers at the entrance way to get to the toilets. It is the first toilet on the left. Changing the nappy bin more throughout the service would help and adding the toilet gel inside the bins could help. I would not change my baby in there I would vomit from spending 5 seconds in there. But other than that the presentation was good , the service from the 2 male waiters and the Asian waitress was superb.

This place stole my heart with amazing food and service 👌 I had a El greeno burger(Vegetarian) which was actually very filling. The Pattie was quite moist which I loved the most about it. The burger was served with chips and aioli. Not vegan as it had dairy. But I hope @lonestarnz will look into putting atleast one vegan option on the menu so that I will go back again 🙈 One thing that made me to give this place 10/10 is the service 👌 The staff was so attentive and made sure I was looked after at every step of the service. When I was asked how the food was, the HEAD CHEF came to see me to give me more info and introduced one more plant based option in their special menu which is only for sometime... how cool is that? How often does it happen? I loved it that they actually like feedbacks. 😎 Also the Bar person, couldn't catch his name but he was awesome in his service and cheerful and said goodbye to me even he left the shift. I felt like he enjoys what he does. This is what I love about hospitality when you are served with this passion, it's definitely a worth visit again. No doubt, i am coming back soon 😊

Came here for a lovely dinner and we both got sat at a table where we both faced the wall rather than each other so asked to move of course lol I really enjoyed the lamb meal with the mash, the Honkey Tonk Chicken meal however just had some extra bits and bobs that weren’t mentioned in the description when looking online eg corn in the slaw… and sadly when we ordered a glass of coke and raspberry each we got what tasted like a Pepsi? So then we got a mocktail each and those were super super sour, and I know for a fact Pina Coladas aren’t sour so that was a bit of a let down… very overpriced in our opinion especially when the drinks came out and we couldn’t even drink them. But overall, the staff were very friendly, the Milkybar Pud was delicious, didn’t have to wait long for our meals to come out - just hope the drinks come out better next time
