During my recent visit to Taaj Indian Restaurant, I encountered a blend of highs and lows that shaped my dining experience. Here’s a breakdown:
Authenticity: The flavors, while enjoyable, did not fully capture the essence of traditional Indian cuisine I’ve encountered in the past. It seems the recipes have been adapted, possibly to cater to a broader palate, which might disappoint purists seeking authentic Indian flavors. Spice Levels: A word to the spice enthusiasts: Taaj’s spice meter might not align with what you’d expect. My mild dish was notably tame, lacking the fiery kick I anticipated. Future visitors might want to communicate clearly about their spice preferences, perhaps inquiring if the restaurant’s spice standards are adjusted for a more international clientele. Complimentary Offerings: Unlike many Indian restaurants that delight guests with complimentary starters or sides like yogurt or papadums, Taaj does not follow this tradition. This absence might be a slight letdown for those accustomed to these welcoming gestures that add value and warmth to the meal. Ambiance: On a positive note, the restaurant’s atmosphere was a highlight. The setting was inviting and well-decorated, contributing to an enjoyable dining environment that enhances the overall experience. Overall Impression: Taking all factors into account, I’d rate my experience at Taaj Indian Restaurant a 3.5 out of 5. While there’s room for improvement, particularly in the authenticity and spice department, the pleasant ambiance partly compensates for these shortcomings.
In summary, Taaj Indian Restaurant offers a mixed experience that might suit those looking for a less intense introduction to Indian cuisine within a comfortable setting. However, aficionados of traditional Indian flavors and heat might find it lacking in...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 8pm and were first served by a blonde lady which didn't smile or seem friendly at all. We ordered a beer and a daiquiri as well as two starter meals and 2 main dishes. Just after we almost finished the starters and the beer had long been served I had to ask the waitresses for the daiquiri again and it also didn't taste that good. All people that had arrived after us were served their meals before us and at 9.15pm we were asked if we're actually still waiting for our main dishes. Another few minutes later we told them to pack our food for takeaway as we didn't feel hungry anymore after waiting for so long. We didn't get a proper apology and had to pay the full price. We understand that sometimes things can get messed up or forgotten even in a restaurant and that's totally fine but with all those things happening we didn't feel well looked after and didn't enjoy our evening there so we won't come back. PS: the takeaway food tasted really good though
Update: Received a 50$ voucher as an apology and ordered some takeaway food. The main dishes were tasty as the first time but side dishes (mixed seasonal vegetables) were obviously and unmistakenly cheap frozen vegetables which didn't have any taste (not even salt on them) and we ended up not eating them... Just updating the review as we got asked to do...
Read moreFirst time i tried takeaway n took'em 1 hour and some to deliver. Another guy said he had been waiting for an hour and a half, so i considered myself lucky. Second time, i tried there online ordering to avoid the waiting. Called them and confirmed if it was okay to use their website. Big mistake. Apparently, the website is not completed yet and the order didn't go through to them. Not knowing this, i waited for my food for almost 2 hours. Then i had to call them and order again. It might be a business trick. Making you wait longer so that you get really hungry and order more food, may be? Food was slightly above par. The same base for almost all the curries. I'm happy with the food and would have given a higher rating but i think the waiting for too long part has affected my judgement. I will try them again in the future and I do recommend them but you've...
