We had a lovely anniversary date night there. Shared the Pohutukawa platter for two with sashimi and nigiri, the bonus was some amazing poke. We were still a little hungry so we went for the Spicy Tuna Roll, which was nice but not outstanding. The only slightly disappointing thing was white fish sashimi, it was kind of chewy and bland. We also had a little awkwardness after ordering sake. Just be aware that if you order one of the more speciality sakes that it comes as a single serving in an overflow box, it is unclear exactly what you are suppose to do with the overflow, but it's $17 a serving so you don't want it to go to waste. We stuck with the house hot sake after that and it was perfectly fine. Service was very friendly...

Firstly! Thank You to Wafu for the perfect birthday dinner for two. We enjoyed the delicious, warming Miso Soup, followed by the Sashimi and Sushi platter for two ... ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! Beautifully presented in a warm and cosy environment.

Service was excellent. Non-intrusive yet attentive. The restaurant itself is exceptionally clean and tidy, inspiring confidence in where your dinner is coming from.

You are able to observe as the Chef prepares three Sashimi and Sushi, creating an interactive experience that is still so subtle and not overly "showy".

Highly recommend Wafu Bistro for a relaxing, satiating evening of Japanese dining.

We also had a bottle of bubbles which is why the price per person is a...

The thing I loved most about Nigiri and Sashimi in Japan was the vibrancy and presentation of the food - like eating a meticulously created work of art. It's great to know that now I can get the same experience in Nelson. The food was fresh and amazing. The service was thoughtful, without being suffocating (I immensely dislike being asked how everything is every ten minutes) and the Sake options were on point. If you want to impress out of town guests, or have visitors from Japan that are pining for a taste of home, or just want to take that special someone out for something well... special, then I HIGHLY recommend this place. This is not a paid endorsement lol. We'll definitely see you again soon!...

We had an amazing experience at Wafu! We came to Wafu on Valentine's Day with a hankering for sushi and fortunately nabbed the last available table. After reading some reviews that named Wafu as Nelson's most expensive sushi, we were pleasantly surprised with the cost of our meals. We couldn't decide what to get, so we got the platter for 2, seaweed salad, and some pickles. Everything was so delicious, including the house sake which was only $15 between two of us. The service was also fantastic! Both servers were friendly and genuinely helpful. We also got to sit next to a fish tank which was very entertaining!

Had an absolutely delightful meal here. As locals to Nelson this was our first visit but definitely not our last! Lucky enough to sit at the bar to see the chef at work, always the best place. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious. We had calamari, vegetable tempura, mixed sashimi, tuna sashimi and sushi. We just couldn’t stop ordering! Great service and very reasonable pricing. Thank you for a lovely meal.
