My family and I had an exceptional dining experience at Alpha Street Bistro in Cambridge. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere, which perfectly balanced sophistication with comfort.

The service was outstanding—attentive without being intrusive, and the staff were genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure we had a great experience. Every recommendation they gave was spot on, and their enthusiasm for the menu was evident.

We were not greeted upon arrival, and felt as though we were interrupting the gossip circle of staff that had clustered around the bar. We had a different waitperson for every order taken and dish served, and encountered six different people during our visit. Our wait time for food was ridiculous. My beer-battered oysters tasted off, and the batter was clearly fried in old oil, and far too much of it. I didn't finish one, let alone 6. My smoked kahawai pate was edible, but nothing my 10 year old couldn't make and present better, and someone was clearly heavy handed on the lime juice and fish sauce in the pumpkin soup. The chef must have a friend who grows saffron, because this usually expensive, delicate accompaniment was piled high in a mound atop each dish. The decor was tired and the staff aloof. It is always an absolute delight dining at Alpha. After spending 4 years going to every restaurant in Hamilton to find the best one with 5 star quality food, we found it in the Alpha Cafe. We will not try another restaurant now, because we doubt we could find one to match the quality of food, service and experience. We go once a month on our date night & still salivate when thinking about the experience to come. I will/would recommend Alpha to anyone & know they would be well rewarded by the experience. I, personally would recommend the salt & pepper squid & the beef rib eye. The latter, you can just about cut with a fork & is always, always, always cooked to perfection.
