Wow, what a place The Deli on the Corner was. Had passed this café many times in the last week and this morning called in for breakfast. Alongside a great menu, there was also a very full food cabinet with lots of beautiful kai. Service was excellent, and food arrived promptly, actually before the kāwhe which I didn't mind. Kai was scrumptious 😋 and those creamy mushrooms were definitely amazing. It was so nice to have an extra slice of toast to mop up all the gravy. Kāwhe was perfect and accompanied by a little biscuit, which was a really nice touch. Smoothie was very good, too. Well, it's worth visiting if you're in Cambridge, I know I will be back when next in town.

I hadn't been to this cafe for a few years. One gets into a routine and I tend to stick with 3 cafes but had my daughter so thought we would try something different. We both had the best value lunch meal in Cambridge. The half big breakfast which is in the picture. Fantastic tasting plus good fast service. The atmosphere is unique. Nice seats and warm. So what's not good then? ...sadly and I mean this with a large dolup of " do bad coffees in Cambridge at your peril " the coffee was burnt. My daughter's cold brew was average. We went to Rouge to get proper coffee. So go there for great value food. They did that really well.

Food looks really good. Son ordered fruit bowl, banana milkshake and farmhouse breakfast and I ordered the eggs Benedict. Fruit was fresh and ripe. Very delicious. Banana milkshake was the best I've tasted for a long time! Unfortunately the scrambled eggs were closer to omelette and quite tasteless. The hollandaise on my Benedict was almost tasteless and the breakfast muffin(? Not sure if it was supposed to be sourdough or plain muffin) was difficult to cut.

Went for a morning coffee and scone before heading to Hobbiton.

The young girl wearing black low cut t-shirt firstly "ignored" us for at least 5 minutes!!! When I say ignore, she did this to the point where after she had delivered food to a couple of tables, she came back to the counter and started looking at her phone while my sister is standing in front of her!!! She didn't look up at all for the over 5 mins we stood there to even acknowledge us.

I thought we had left behind racism and prejudice in the 1960s-70s!!!!

Seriously guys, Cambridge is a small town which many travellers drive past on their way to other parts of lower North island. Treat your customers the same young lady and maybe focus less on tie makeup and more in improving your customer service skills!!! You will go a long way if you just focus on that!

Also don't call your scone a "cheese scone" if its filled with sugar!! I was so looking forward to my breakfast scone but hugely disappointed with the sweetness...

We had breakfast this morning- 2x eggs benny and a pancakes... firstly i sent mine back as the eggs were way overcooked (thats just me, i dont like hard boiled eggs) i said to leave the rest just the eggs to be new. My neice had pancakes and it looked great but had hair in it. My cousins eggs benny then came out and had a hair in it also. The eggs benny was sent back and we were not angry or anything.. hey im from hospo it happens, so we were really nice about it. But the attitude we received was uncalled for. Treated us as if its our fault that there was hair in 2 out 3 meals! There were also 4 girls working and not one of them in the 20 mins of being there cleared the 5 dirty tables outside. New guests were sitting at dirty tables as there were none available. I have over 10 years experience in hospitality and been through it all.. but customer service is #1, if you cant handle customer complaints or feedback you are in the...

Worse morning tea my elderly mother has ever had. She ordered a Feta and Spinach scroll and carrot cake muffin plus tea for 1. The scroll was so burnt underneath it was black. We pointed it out to the waitress who blamed the oven and said our oven is like that. My Mum tried to eat some more and it was bitter. I took it back to the counter and a brash older lady in the kitchen said they are all like that and no one else has complained. I said she can't eat it and it's bitter. I asked if my mum can have a scone instead. Instead this lady picked up the last one in the cabinet with her fingers and said this one wasn't so bad. Another waitress bought it out and it was still black underneath! No apology. Both our tea's were luke warm and the carrot cake muffin wasn't much either. In fact the super.arket ones were better. Never...
