Yum Cha was excellent. The "Har Gao" (prawn dumpling) was absolutely outstanding, although the Xiao Loong Bao (which is a steamed cross between a pork dumpling and a pork bun) was disappointing. 12 out of 14 items we ate was good or excellent, with reasonable portion sizes and pricing, around $6.50-7.20 for most items. Service was pretty good, they were slightly overstaffed when we were there. One of the tidiest restaurant toilets in town! The only thing going against them is the obscure location and lack of street visibility. This restaurant was previously the Happiness Restaurant, but its had a name change, and slight change of ownership mix, we've heard. We're glad it's resurrected and is worthy of 5 stars and a recommendation to try. Update following a second visit the week after. Busier this time but service still pretty good. Twice now we've asked for something and for a second week running they've delivered without needing a reminder - very impressed. Sounds basic but busy restaurant staff often don't. Har Gao not as good as previous week, the prawn flesh not outstanding but perfectly fine. The food is still generally of very good quality. My only gripe is some male customers must have tried long distance delivery in the loo; guys, it doesn't work, please don't, it's not nice for other customers and not fair to the...
Read moreOn Thursday 23rd of June, I came here with couple of friends and thought the food and service was amazing! I absolutely loved it.
However, different experience when bringing family in that weekend and not sure whether it was because it was a public holiday so things got busier, I get it but didnt have the same sort of experience prior. We had a really lovely young man who served us, but the food coming out was limited for Yum Cha. We were told Yum Cha started at 12pm-2pm, and given a menu of all the things offered. Only few items were presented and there seemed to be a rush to cater to other bigger groups even though we booked ahead of time but felt like after 10-20 minutes we had to either call someone just to be noticed as the food was limiting.
Felt like we were also being rushed to finish our food due to the rush, and noticed other families and people coming in were being turned away not because there weren't any seats - but because there was no one on the floor serving just two people doing the orders and also trying to run the restaurant.
Overall nothing wrong with the food, love it but the service and stress I was witness to gave me anxiety abit and would hope maybe more support for staff in the front including more items of food if...
Read moreThe staff was very rude. We booked a table for 3 one day in advance which was 11:30. It was a super rainny day. My friend were here at 11:38. The staff said to my friend you are late. My friend was upset coz it is not a cheap take away. We expected to a good service not blaming. They give us a very small table near to the pole with mirror. I asked them if we can change to another table which is not that narrow voz we have 3 people. The staff said we are fully booked and you guys are late. There were empty at the time. She kept saying that you booked at 11:30. I did not hear it clearly. I thought she said that someone has booked at 1:30. I said we will finish by 1:30. She said that I mean you booked for 11:30. How rude she is! I do not think 8 mins will make any difference! The food is ok. However, I do not recommend people to go since the staff is rediculously rude! You should have told us if you have time limit in advance at the...
