Everyone is praising this place. And chicken tikka did actually look beautiful, that's why I went there . The people working ( most probably the owners, are really humble as well ) . But, now the real thing is - I had Mutton Rogan Josh from there , and only the consistency of gravy was good . Lamb wasn't cooked properly. The curry was over salty . And, it looked like just a mixture of spices . It's like - spices only used to make the curry, but the art of cooking was really really missing. Might be I was unlucky. But this was a bad experience. I want the owners to take it constructively, rather than getting offended on it .
Mutton Rogan Josh is a Kashmiri curry from India, the meat has to be really tender and it has to be aromatic, with blend of spices, and with very red colour gravy. . It's very different from a regular mutton curry . I just mean to say that- if they called it a simple mutton curry, it would be nice . This is hurtful, when u pay for a big name, and all u get is curry full of salt and improperly cooked meat . And even the pieces weren't uniform. Were hard to chew.
Most of the people buying, could be locals who don't have much ideas of Indian cuisine. They would appreciate anything coz of their courteous nature and curiosity.
But trust me,I have never been that offended as an Indian- having seen food treated as pure business, but not connection to the original recipe.. Even Indian people who are getting this curry, might not be Kashmiris, there is a very low probability of this . It was so tough to eat it . I just ate as I was hungry, and had nothing to eat and had not much time to cook . I wish other recipes are good but I have got a very bad first impression. This was a night mare.
Only thing I loved was the look of the place. And politeness and the customer service. I hope when they read it they take it constructively. I know a lot about Indian cooking I'm no professional but have been cooking traditional Indian dishes from all over India and now many dishes from friends from all...
Read moreVegetarian options! Recently I ordered their Aloo Gobi, Palak Paneer, Onion Kulcha, and a Roti.
My partner and I loved the Palak Panner. The paneer was so soft! The gravy was creamier than we’ve had before but very delicate. I think there are some sweet spices in the dish, which offers a lovely flavour difference to the breads!
The Aloo Gobi was from their warming cabinet so the spice level is already set. It was a good warning medium. A really decent Aloo Gobi. It has a tomato masala with it making it slightly wet but it’s not soupy! Great flavour.
All the breads are homemade and freshly baked in the tandoor. The Kulcha was made with their soft na’an dough. Fresh onions baked into the bread with spices, sensational. The roti was a different wholemeal dough. It baked amazingly and offered a nuttier-bread to enjoy with the dishes.
Rice needs to be ordered separately.
This was our first visit here and we’ll definitely it’ll go again! So lovely to have this...
Read moreThe best north Indian food outside north India... Having lived in the curry capital of the UK (Birmingham) as well as India itself, I can comfortably say that the food here is absolutely delicious and some of the best Indian takeaway you can get anywhere in the world (yes really!).
I would particularly recommend the chicken tikka (tandoori chicken as known elsewhere) and any of the meat curries, which are cooked and spiced beautifully. The naans are fresh and warm out of the clay oven.
Unfortunately, it can get very busy and during peak times it's likely you may have to wait outside, so perhaps worth ordering in advance over the phone if necessary. There can be a bit of a wait, as the demand is very high and staff seem rushed off their feet, but they remain friendly and provide good service. Highly...
