Buba Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

I took my son for breakfast this Sunday morning and ordered eggs benedict and the French toast w/ coffee. I specifically asked for the eggs not to be runny as I cannot stomach eggs that way. The coffee was ok but not up to the usual Wellington standard. My eggs were runny, and my food was cold, they were busy and only had 2 staff so I decided to eat around and not send the food back even though I should of. My sons food however was steaming hot, so I felt a bit jealous he got the good plate. The portion sizes were large (maybe a bit too large), the atmosphere was relaxed. Definitely could have been better, as an ex-chef and hospitality worker I feel for the businesses in Wellington but regardless of what is happening the quality should not suffer. I would have been ok if the staff said we are short staffed your meals may come out separately (and hot) or I would have happily waited longer. I honestly was disappointed because I was hanging out for eggs bene and its a treat to eat out these days so I hoped for better. They seem like nice people so I hope they take this review constructively, people are generally more understanding and patient if you explain and it will relieve the pressure on the staff too. I recently stumbled upon this cozy little café and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming vibe and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. The decor strikes the perfect balance between modern and homey.

The coffee? Absolutely top-notch. I ordered a cappuccino and it was rich, smooth, and clearly made with care.

Service was friendly and efficient. The staff went out of their way to make sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of, without hovering. It's the kind of place where you can hang out for hours, whether you're catching up with a friend, working on your laptop, or just people-watching out the window.

Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a relaxing atmosphere, excellent coffee, and genuinely great service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Great service from these guys. Awesome vegetarian pizza too! Highly recommended. They even gave me a free drink while waiting for my 2 takeaway pizza. Very impressed.

I previously scored these guys high. Today I'm reducing the score. I've had the soup here a few times and it just comes with one slice of white bread. So previously I've ordered extra bread for which I've been charged $0 and $1 for. So obviously there is room for discretion on this charge. Today I was charged $3 for 2 slices of bread. Obviously I have the option to purchase this or not. I did purchase it because 1 slice with a bowl of soup isn't enough. But come on guys..... seriously? $3 for 2 slices of cheap white bread where the whole loaf probably cost less than $2.
