See, here's what gets me. The owners are good people, well, so I thought. The food is good, and the vibe is nice. It is a good restaraunt that I've been to many times and I've had many a conversation with the owners.
And yet, currently they have political ads displayed over their building for a party (New Conservative) that doesn't believe in climate change, believes abortion should be illegal, believes that being gay and transgender is wrong and evil, and lots of other disgusting, backwards, divorced from reality stuff that screw over the most vulnerable people in our society while benefitting people like yourselves.
And then there's National, which advocates for reducing the amount of money that people with severe disabilities that prevent them from working receive to, you know, help them not be homeless or starve. I'm as of recent one of those people, and I already receive barely enough to pay my rent and buy my expensive unfunded medication and medical treatment. I am physically and mentally unable to work, and National wants to make it even harder for me to pay my bills by reducing the amount of financial support people like me get. You ignore that uncomfortable truth because you get taxed slightly less under a National governmemt.
You people support political parties that do not care in the slightest about people like myself, because it means you get taxed slightly less, or because they tossed you a few bucks to throw away your soul. Dunno which is worse.
If that isn't selfish and ignorant, I don't know what is. You will not receive my business ever again, and I'd wager that people who have a shred of empathy towards the vulnerable people your political activism screws over would feel very similarly.
Great Gado...
Read moreOn Tuesday 18th Feb. 3 of us including , one overseas visitor went to Kanama Kopi Kadai cafe at 1 Rongotai Rd for a meal. We went in laughing and joking and feeling happy. . The waitress showed us to a table and left the menu with us. We selected our dishes and asked her, if we can substitute brown rice with jasmine rice, She agreed and took our orders. Two minutes later the owners wife came and said sorry no jasmine rice is avaiable. We discussed, amongst ourselves that we did not like brown rice. My visiting friend said it is bad management and we keft the cafe. The owner followed us and started abusing our overseas friend, saying YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE, DON'T COME HERE AGAIN. My friend said, who cares, we will not be back. In response to that the owner said YOU BLOODY INDIAN, I AM NOT INDIAN LIKE YOU. The point here is that: the owner did not have to come out of his cafe to abuse a customer because he remarked about bad management. Furthemore, If someone does not like to eat in a cafe and choses to leave, for what ever reason, the owner should respect it. When my partner heard what had happened she was shocked, , She decided to put feedback in the hope there may be an apology. No apology, instead we are made to look as if we did something wrong by using our free will to leave the premises, In fact my partners feedback has been removed which won't deter us from getting our point made The owner may have got away with this attititude in his native country but we are living in different society here where people views can be heard one way...

It would be great if they could let us know that they only had once chef to prepare the meals rather than having us to go to the counter to ask. So we’d be prepared.
The rendang is served fusion style. I know it well because I am from the region. It should not be yogurt or cream on top of the meat like regular rendang is but they probably do it on purpose. The rendang was more to the dry side and it was quite upsetting to see that the description on the menu is different to what we were served. They put coconut yogurt instead of coconut cream.
I had to ask and the guy did not even know what it was. First he said coconut cream, but when I said it tasted sour which I just wanted to make sure if it was still OK for us to eat it. Then he said it was yogurt. I looked at the menu again to check because my son is allergic to dairy. He went to the kitchen and said it was coconut yogurt.
We would appreciate it if they let us know if they used coconut yogurt instead of coconut cream as it was written on the menu before they served the food. They did not even explain anything after my complaint.
The nasi goreng was OK but could be fluffier. Only a couple of chicken pieces and did not see any shrimp in the rice.
I hope they improved their communication and service, knowing that it was a Saturday night so must be busier than usual. I am not sure if I want...
