Great views of Lyall Bay and lovely piece of Wellington history. Nothing nearly as large or elaborate as the botanical gardens but it’s well maintained and cared for. The house is only available for tours via appointments or on a few special days a year. Would be a good place to take kids to watch the planes take off.

We have visited Truby Park in 2020, it was a wonderful experience. Loved the history, nature , fresh air. Beautiful flowers, good place to have a walk and chat and enjoy nature and history. This is also a good place for a picnic. Kids can play and have fun. Parking was easy to find.

Slightly disappointing to visit as although the garden is of a reasonable size it isn't very well kept and a lot of it is on a steeply sloping bank meaning access will be a problem for some visitors. Beautiful quiet spot. Didnt see another soul anywhere near me whole time i was here. Definitely a hidden wellington gem. I walked through on the southern walkway hike (google maps has it drawn wrong on their maps - follow pink markers). Gorgeous views from here overlooking welly airport.
