Gear Meat Pie Company — Restaurant in North Island

I am new to Gisborne, so I have been on the hunt for the best pie in town. This is one of my first reviews, so I won't be able to say which place is the winner. This has been my first experience @ GMPC.

As I walked towards the shop, I saw several people coming in and out the door which is always a good sign. I confidently ordered a Mince & Cheese Pie, and for $4.10 I was more than pleased with the amount of food I got in return. It was delicious from 1st to last bite; the crust was golden and cooked all the way through - both top and bottom, and the filling very flavourful. Excellent cheese-to-meat ratio, with the added bonus that they don't use preservatives. The lady that served me was super nice too, which is a lot to say especially for such busy places. It is no wonder the shop has been open for a long time, as this was one of the best pies...

Just moved to Gisborne a month ago. Was told Gear meat pies are the "Best" here. Brought 5 pies, 1 Sausage roll. $5 each. Today team the pastry in every pie was HARD we ordered M/C, got given ALL MINCE 🙄, The sausage roll with cheese tastes funny, PLEASE taste your kai before selling it too the public get better ones in Auckland for half the price. Pies loaded with pepper!
