Mulligans Public House — Restaurant in North Island

Two family with kids a total of 13 people is where I’ll start with the review .. also another family came to join us around 530/6 pm on a Friday the place had one other family of four seated and eating a meal … the people behind the counter were very friendly let me be very clear in that . However we ordered our meals they had two options for kids menu fish or nuggets all kids wanted nuggets only to find out they had none so fish was the only option we thought ok and ordered a few kids meals of fish,and adult meals from the menu even tho we were the only other people there we had to go and ask where the food was over an hour later the bar stuff were very apologetic and went to check when the meals did arrive I’m sorry but they were awful nanchos tasted stale and the kids did not touch the fish bites I couldent blame them I tried a bit and couldn’t stomach it to make matters worse the whole place needed a clean the material on the booths we were seated at were so old and filthy it actually put you off the meal entirely we ended up just asking them to put everything in takeaway boxes so we could take the food that Ovcourse we paid for but did not eat home for our pet chickens and made cheese toasties when home I must say the staff handled the situation well we felt terrible for needing to be so honest on how poor the food quality was it wasent like a cheap as meal either .. I’d go back here for a beer but not for food not even the chips .. I wana say thanks to the staff for not being rude to us after we complained and understood the situation. The owners really need to step up the dire conditions of the place and standard of cleaning also they need to make sure the chef/ cook has food that’s fresh and available if it’s on the menu as many items even on the adult menu we’re...

Unfortunately not a great experience here. Very quiet with not much of an atmosphere but lovely outdoor seating with a view of the lake. Ordered the veggie burger with chips. Had asked for it with mash but was informed the mash was made with powder and they weren't sure it was veggie. I think the powdered mash would've been better than the heavily peppered chips we got. The chips were practically coated in black pepper which was unfortunately not for me at all. It's also not standard for chips in NZ to be served this way so I didn't think it was necessary to ask for no pepper. The burger was fine, just a little cold and had no real flavour. All of us found our beers somewhat flat, unsure if it's a issue with the kegs... Previous reviews are very positive so not sure if it's a change of management but hopefully some changes...

Went to mulligans tonight for a game on the slots.

My $20 note got ripped in half, so i took it to the bar.

Think it was the bar manager i was talking to explain that my money got ripped in half by one of the feeders in the slot machine.

He tells me that he doesnt accept broken money. I asked if he could check the machine because my other half of the $20 was inside.

He told me he cant open it tonight but get my name and phone number.and he will open machine tomorrow.

Mean while i went back to the pokies machine and same guy switches off all the machines, and i asked him again if he could open the machine tosee my broken note

Yet he says no. But he can close the machines off...but cant open it..
