Roquette Restaurant and Bar - Taupo — Restaurant in North Island

Pretty decent meal here. First, I got the raspberry mojito which was super tasty. I tried my brother’s piña colada which unfortunately I cannot say the same about. They seemed to use regular cream and not a coconut cream so it kind of just tasted of cold sweet cream. My meal itself was also very yummy. I got the spiced cauliflower which had great flavor. The capsicum coulis tasted good but was overpowered by the other flavors in the dish. My party was not as happy with their food as I was. I was told some of the fish was bland and did not really have that much flavor. For the price we were expecting a higher quality of food. I was also expecting a bit more cauliflower. I was only given 3 larger pieces and I was expecting around 4-5 given that the “protein” of the meal was supposed to be the cauliflower. For the dessert I ordered the Roquette Brûlée. Here I have no complaints. It was very yummy and a good size. The service here was also excellent. The server was very attentive and she described in detail the fish of the day for us. So you're looking for a great place to dine, well look no further! This restaurant may be newish to Taupo, but they bring a classy established reputation of excellence from their start in Whakatane, all the way to you in Taupo.

Roquette Restaurant & Bar really deserves to be rated in the top group of fine dining experiences in this area. From the genuine welcome to the final farewell we felt valued. Yes full marks and thanks to the excellent staff that just added to the professionalism and pleasure.

Add to this a menu selection that I'm sure caters for nearly everyone and you'll want to come back again and again to chow down on the ones you couldn't eat this time.

Thanks to some talented chefs, our meals were presented beautifully . The wine selection truly complimented our selections, the atmosphere was great, and we had a fun time.

We were in Taupo for 4days/3nights, and Roquette is perhaps the only eatery from this visit we would whole heartedly recommend.

ALL the food, and service, was great and we would recommend it all (not all items were available in Google's "recomend" list at time of review)

Meal items to note:

The perfectly cooked eye filled was devoured by our 6yr old - something she has perhaps only done at home. This was in addition to her eating more than her fair share of the salmon tartare, much like a grizzly bear in salmon season.

The deliciousness of the lamb salad was perhaps only surpassed by its tenderness and...generosity - very much a "lamb, (with salad)" rather than a "salad (with lamb)".

The tiramisu - of the 10s of restaurant & cafe tiramisus I've had - would be in the Top Two.
