Salva D'or Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria — Restaurant in North Island

We had high hopes for what should have been a lovely dinner to celebrate our mother’s birthday, instead we left disappointed to say the least.

To start, our drinks order took an abnormal amount of time to be served to us, no biggie we were there mostly for the food. Our entrees came out within more of an expected wait time and we're all hungry at this point so we were relieved at the sight of food.

Things were looking upwards and we were feeling good... That was until half of our table was served their food and we watched meals be delivered to a table we saw seated only 10 minutes prior. We joked and questioned amongst ourselves whether the other table had received our food but dining at a restaurant that has been around for 12 years as mentioned on their website, we thought to ourselves that must be a funny coincidence. Wasn't until that same table started getting their entrees delivered half way through their main meals that we thought to query with the wait staff where the rest of our meals were as 2 of our guests had well and truly finished their meals. We were told to wait just 6 more minutes, only for another 15 minutes to pass before our meals finally arrived.

Keeping in mind it had been 90 minutes since placing our orders at this point and the staff seemed completely oblivious to the issue. We overheard the manager? apologize to the other table that they were given the wrong tables food before she came to communicate that with us.

To top it off, our food came out in takeaway containers, after one of our guests simply requested a container on the side for her leftovers.

At that point, we just paid and left with our to-go bags. It seems inattentiveness was a common theme amongst staff last night as they couldn't even ring up a split bill accurately.

The entire experience was a disaster, and the poor service completely overshadowed what was meant to be a special celebration.

We will NOT be returning to Salva Dor in a hurry that's for sure and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else looking for quality service or to celebrate a...

Best feature was the ambience, has the cosy small Italian feel to it, unfortunately that's the only positive we had.

Celebrating my partner's birthday l, we had read alot of positive reviews and the website stated fresh made each morning and authentic Italian quisine...on arrival we battled to get through the door while staff just stood around, from there the service was good until the food arrived..Sea food was overcooked and dry, the pasta sauce looked like it came out of a jar,was flavourless. The pasta was store bought. My partners dish was quite tasty but again not freshly made pasta, so not authentic.

We were shown after the meal that the menu shows items that are fresh and those which are not. We should have been made aware of this prior to Ordering, again not authentic Italian dining re the website.

The website was very misleading, as this was the basis on which we had decided to dine here.

The owner was to busy defending herself, instead of taking onboard what we had mentioned.

How this place could be ratedthe best Italian in Tauranga is mind boggling, doesn't say much for the rest.

My partner made a booking 2 weeks ago for a Valentine’s Day out. We have been here before 5 times for the past 3 years. We have previously had such an amazing time with amazing food but after tonight I do not think I could ever face the idea of coming back. When we arrive we received glares from the till once we were seated. 3 girls stood there starting at us whispering. We were seated right by the toilet and door to the kitchen (not sure how we got poor seating since the booking was made far in advance). From that point on we knew we wanted to leave. The lack of service to our table was crippling. They took our drinks order once and never returned to take another drinks order. We waited 50 minutes for our mains to arrive to which the restaurant was far from full intact closer to half of the tables were empty. The loud and foul language from the kitchen took me away but that was partly because we were near the door…. We had two mouthfuls of our food and then got take away boxes to eat at home. My partner has apologised for tonight. This service has effected what could be the most lovely’est night of the year. Very very sad, it made me so upset I...
