Harbour City Motor Inn — Hotel in North Island

We stayed two nights. The room itself was actually quite good but unfortunately the service was very below standard. The room was very expensive considering how poor the service was.

Checkin was supposed to be 2pm but the room wasn't ready when we arrived. We ended up being late to a function we were attending as we had to wait for the cleaners to finish our room.

Our room didn't have a rubbish bin so we had to go to reception yo get one. Instead of the guy just giving the bin at reception he insisted coming into our room to bring the bin himself. This was extremely weird and it looked like he was scoping out our room while he was putting the bin inside. Made us feel very uncomfortable.

some of the dishes were still dirty from the previous guests. We ended up cleaning them ourselves.

when we were out the next day, the cleaners had been in our room and had obviously emptied our bin. Unfortunately that's all the cleaning that was done. Beds not made, towels not replaced, dishes not washed. We would've preferred that no one came into our room if we had known the cleaner was only going to empty the bin and nothing else.

With the ever growing popularity of Tauranga and its available facilities for the young and old, Harbour City is centrally located for entertaining, dining and festivities. You can leave your car to get to the various Art Gallery, Festivals, Movies, Shopping Arcades, Mini Supermarkets. There is a playground by the Waterfront for children of all ages or you could enjoy a picnic for the day and watch water activies that are scheduled for the day.

Best of all Harbour City Motel is not only centrally located but it has proven to have a very high standard of service with immaculate rooms to stay in. The staff are very polite and always look out for your comfort,. They cater for your needs where applicable and nothing is too difficult!

For those with adventure in mind, you can hire a bike and enjoy the scenic trails of Tauranga. Catch a bus directly opposite the motel and away you go to places beyond. No car-park worries, no traffic hassles and travel the distance relaxing and enjoying the views of Bay of Plenty. You return home to your motel feeling great after a day's outing to a comfortable, clean environment and a spa to relax to complete your day.

We booked our room at the last minute and ended up liking it, and the location on Wharf Street, just a block up from Tauranga’s eat street. Our room was on the ground floor of the two level Motel, and was fairly clean. We did feel the necessity to wash glasses and dishes in the kitchenette before use. It seems previous visitors have been sloppy and inspections are being missed. We were delighted with the size of the room(s). One large bed in the main room, and a second bed room with two singles! The bathroom was also very large. The owner/host Tui is the real superstar of this location. Every question or request was seen too immediately, as well as being very kind and good to talk to. I noticed some nefarious behavior of non-residents parked in the lot after hours, and she showed me the almost completed installation of an electric gate that will stop entry.
