Booked due to great reviews and was so sadly disappointed. We stayed in the harbour view room. Not a friendly or welcoming place for younger to middle aged couples. First impressions are everything and we were left feeling very uncomfortable and not welcomed for our 2 night stay. There is no notification on any of the advertising websites that there is a 100 bond for each night which you have to pay on arrival. Just a suggestion for staff to treat all paying customers the same regardless of their appearance. Place was smaller than expected and balcony is not private or covered. Price does not match those of other places with more facilities and helpful, friendlier staff. No restaurant no pool no gym. Was advised late check out was not available even though it seemed empty and we were willing to pay extra. Had to ask for parking and was advised the next day our key was not loaded as to why we couldn't get into the car park the night before. The key still didnt work when we returned and staff hung up on us when we called through the intercom. We felt like asking for help was a hassle to them. staff definitely hampered the cute room and decent view. Comfy bed. Was looking forward to returning as the bigger room was unavailable and rooms are nicer than most in tauranga but would not recommend staying here if you are looking for overall good accommodation. Will be trying the wharf hotel next time as we regret spending our money here. Lady in charge upon check out was lovely. Thank you for your reply. I don't believe there was any issue with the machine as other people were swiping in fine as that was how we got in twice. I understand checks are required however we paid up front for our stay upon arrival and were then told to pay the bond also, plus having my card details. Surely you don't ask all visitors to pay 600 plus before they even...
Read moreI keep forgetting to write a review. But I stayed here for two nights back in 3rd-5th May 2024. I was staying on level 6 and on the second night, early hours, around 4am I was woken up to a leaking roof! The water was dripping from the roof onto the bed. Security were called and I was told a bath tub was left running from a room on level 8!
The next morning when I checked out, the receptionist was so rude! Immediately gave attitude when I approached her to check out and she had no sympathy. When the manager came out to sort the issues he was almost not apologetic at all. Because of this I questioned reimbursement since the leaking roof ruined the stay. But the manager was so quick to say something along the lines "how many nights did you stay here". Which I found extremely unprofessional. Regardless of nights stayed they had a leaking roof!! AND my booking was directly with the hotel. I did not feel like a valued customer. Had they been apologetic from the start, I would have understood that this issue was out of their control and not asked for anything.
The manager first offered a discount rate for a future stay, like as if I will ever stay at their hotel again after knowing water leaked from a room on level 8 all the way to level 6.. I don't think the water damage will be fixed intensively. I refused this offer. Then he offered a refund of $100. Which was paid.
Honestly, if the receptionist on that morning wasn't so rude and the manager was more professional I probably would've not even written a review. But it was a morning I will never forget.
The 4 star rating for service, is for the house keeping! The cleaning ladies...
Read moreWe booked the Premium Harbor View Room, 10 months prior to the date of our stay.
As we walked in to the room, half the view was blocked by scaffolding. And there were noisy building works on the other side of our wall that started early each morning.
We had to keep the balcony door closed, with the curtains drawns, as the workers standing on the scaffolding could see straight in to our room.
There had been no communication about this situation prior to arrival. (The front desk response when we asked about the situation was "oh, you must have booked a long time ago if you did not know about the building works". And then another responsible was "we wouldn't have put you in that room if we had known they are working over the weekend".)
When the staff came to see 'what the problem was' early on Saturday morning, the pot plant on the balcony was swaying and had to be grabbed and steadied by the staff member, due to the vibrations from the drilling and sawing.
Our 'compensation' from the Manager for a 4-night stay was one complimentary breakfast.
We were offered to swap to other rooms but they were smaller, had no view/balcony and stank of cigarettes.
On no occassion did the Manager reach out to us or communicate with us.
Facilities and services are poor: one coffee bag supplied for a double room each day, no room-safe, and no wake up calls.
The hotel also has no connection to the in-house Club Room. Hence they were unable to help with the loud, late night party that was taking place next to our room.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was a good location, but we would not recommend...
