TLDR - Good food, don't go with kids
THE LONG STORY - I'm a little bit confused as to how to review this restaurant. We had good food and received excellent service from our server, but it was also one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had, and all off it over two kids meals.
I've taken my kids out for dinner countless times, and I've never experienced anything like this. In addition to our meals, we ordered two kids pasta dishes and asked them to hold the sauce. Unfortunately what arrived was a few pieces of pasta and a side of green salad leaves. By the time the parmasan cheese arrived the meager portion of pasta was long gone and my kids were still hungry. So (and this is something I've never done) we asked the server for additional pasta - a couple of extra raviolis would have sufficed. Instead we were told that was all there would be. The manager informed us that had we ordered the pasta with the sauce it would have been more filling.
At the end of the meal we expressed our disappointment and asked that they take something off the bill, initially they refused - eventually they gave us the meals at 50% off.
The whole thing felt like a shame that could have easily been averted at many steps along the way. Yes my children thought it was tasty pasta, but it was simply not enough food to fill up even my 7 year old. If that was always going to be the case we should have been told. Call me mad, but I believe that a restaurant has a responsibility - if we ordered something inappropriately sized, tell us. Equally, a restaurant should never leave children hungry. Fine, leave the adults to fend for themselves, but call me crazy for beliving that a children's meal should feed a child.
I would have happily left 4 stars and personally I felt it was well on it's way to 5 stars (the complimentary sparkling water was a lovely touch), but at the end of the day I'm left feeling as if no one associcated with the restaurant has children, certainly not anyone who was...
Read moreWe went here based on good reviews, unfortunately our experience was not even close. I'll start with what we didn't like first, seen as that's the reason most of us scroll through the lower starred reviews. There were good things, scroll toward the end to read. We are not food experts, just want to comment on our experience, leave it to you the reader to decide if it should affect your decision to visit. We ordered the eye fillet and the ribs as mains. Both were extremely salty, to the point we didn't even make it halfway through finishing. Reminds me of the scene in 'green book', "any chef can make things salty, to make it taste good without the salt, and just the other flavors, that's the trick". Which is true, both these meals lacked flavor, but had plenty of salt. None of the waiters asked if the meal was OK, they only asked if we needed anything else, as in to sell more drinks. Obviously we could of mentioned something, but it wasn't worth our hassle, and we decided to leave hungry. The waiter that took our order, asked if I wanted salad with the eye fillet, I said yes. I nievely didn't realise, this was at an additional cost. It wasn't mentioned to me at the time it was an additional $9. Then my disappointment in the nine dollar salad, when it arrived. It was bland and covered in... More salt. The ribs tasted more like ham, likely because of the salty prep. The coffee I had was brought out only warm, which was not great, but was OK. I think this can happen anywhere and didn't bother me as much as the disappointing meal. The good; The waiter that took us to our table was very pleasant and friendly, which gave us a great first impression. The interior was very pleasant, with live plants which made the place look amazing. We sat outside on a lovely sunny day, in a great spot in the sun. We didn't feel the need to return to try something else, as there were plenty of other great restaurants and cafes in Eat Streat and...
